newb question - winterize

2. dont worry im not winterizing now... but soon enough..


This is my first time winterizing the superjet. ive winterized my seadoo with no problems over the years.. the SD is not premixed, and ive filled the tank and added Stabil.

With the SJ, my gas tank is premixed. Do you all know if its recomended to use the fuel stabilizer when the fuel is premixed ?

Am i better off draining the fuel tank ?

I never use stabil because I have to start the ski in the garage to smell the two stroke over winter at least one a week but then again we are really only off the water for a couple months.

Drain or stabil will be fine for you to do.

Fill the tank with premix. Mix Stabil 1 ounce per 2.5 gallons of gas. Stabil has a new marine formula out, but I haven't seen it locally.

i know how to winterize.. i just didnt know if you can use the stabil in a premix setup..

id love to move south.. but then i dont have to deal with alligators, amoeba, snakes, sharks.... etc.....

Well I am moving south... bummer is not much snow and I like snowboarding... Yeah those amoebas are scarying me about riding down there.

To be honest with you guys, I never winterized my skis the first few I owned... Can't really say how it affected their reliablilty because I usualy didn't tune them right after mods and blew them up anyways. That and the occasional sub/flooding/hydrolocking diaster.

i just run em for a second to make sure most the water is out.
fill the gas tank to the top (no stabil, it makes them a PITA to start / keep running the next season for that entire tank)
and take out the battery.

Its worked for me for both of my skis for the last 3-4 years, no problem.

Winterize? That means your not riding for a while. Unheard of around here. We go all winter. And yeah, it's freezing ass cold.

I always siphon out my old gas the next year and run it in the lawn boy. Smells like you are at the MX races.... well the MX races ten years ago I am gonna miss two strokes...

Florida has been getting a ton of rain (well my area of least--north central). My lake has come up like 18" in the last 3 weeks. It is still down about 3' feet from this time last year though, but it is a big, deep lake. I think it is just GA that is having the major problems. We don't get our drinking water down here from lakes anyways (florida aquifer.) It has been raining almost non stop this last week
