Clear hoods for superjet and sxr

Could someone make a clear hood strong enough for freestyle, or racing?

Even if it had large mesh inside the clear hood for reinforment, it still would be cool i think...

It would be neat to have a clear hood with a tinted color kind of like the buell firebolt and lightning.

It would be weird seeing how full your superjet was after a sub, or other tricks that took on alot of water!

Just an idea...
Thumbs up or Thumbs down???

they were made for the 440/550s back in the day. i believe they were hoods w/ no liners for racing. for freestely, youd want a liner. thatd be 2 foggy pieces of plastic youd be looking through. might not see much.

I thought about a Lexan hood, but I just don't think you could build it well enough and still see the engine bay clearly.

I think it would also fog up due to moisture that gets kicked around the engine bay, unless you had great venting, than again your water ingestion would suck.

They make Lexan hoods for race sleds because they are more durable, but a superjet hood isn't like a sled hood.

That would be tight. I saw a guy that made up a clear chin pad that was pretty cool a while ago. Not much of a pad, but at least it went over the same area and protected all the stearing stuff. Imagine what they will have in like 10 years... maybe a clear hull? lol... who knows?

There is only one problem with that Nick UHMW=ultra high molecular weight

I know what it means... :pat:

and it's not that heavy... I have used lots of the stuff and it is very light actually... ever heard of kydex???

In the world of plastic its considered fairly heavy,I do agree it is pretty much indestructable though,we used it to make a lot of kewl stuff on Ski Natiques before. No I have no idea what Kydex is.

it's the only material I can think of that would be appropriate to use...

lexon, plexiglass, those are all way too brittle

I never ended up doing it but I had a spare 550 hood I was just gonna cut the side out of it and smack in a lexan window on both sides.

Lexan is just lighter and shatters easy, that's why it's not trail legal.

I would look sweet as long as it was clean!
