Anyone ever figure out how many pounds are lost by replacing oem with aftermarket?

How long do you think you could crank your engine with the little 4lb battery? If you injest some water would you perhaps have a problem if the engine does not start immediately?

I love how most things on the list will not only help the weight but will also help the look of the ski, handling, or performance. I can't wait to do some mods this winter and lighten my ski!

it's completely worthless for that.... do not put this into a ski that has trouble starting... I bring cables and an extra batt for that..

U may need to pm me an remind me this weekend!
I have a 98 RN w/dry foam and
little battery -12lbs.
wdk hood,nose piece -5 lbs.
billet pole bracket ?
x metal water box ?
stk tank
b pipe
ada girdled head
stk plate
worx grate
umi -2" pole
-2 and 1/2 turn plate
striaght bars

I will weigh my my ski this weekend w/no gas and let u know.
Because I did all this 1 piece at a time, its hard to say it made a big diff, ride my wifes 03 RN and then ride mine, HUGE DIFF

UMI pole will kill ya here as it is heavier then stock.
My set up :
WDK hood
A/C pole
X-metal WB
B pipe
lighter battery
reinforced
defoamed and refoamed
weighs in at 304#
OEM dry wieght claims 291#

How did you measure that? Seriously, I can't think of a way you could because the water is going to be entrained in the exhaust flow.

That would be at idle, and obviously the harder you are on the throttle the lighter they get, I guess it would also matter how your water is routed, and restricted.

My guess is that your gas tank was full when you weighed it???? weird if it wasn't! It still should be less than that though even if it was full..... maybe the reinforcement makes up for some of that too.....also maybe girdled head weighs more... never compared my ADA head to stock....I guess the B-Pipe prob. adds some weight.... what do you think that weight is compared to stock?

Not really, gas weights about 6 pounds per gallon if he had 4 gallons in it that is 24-25 pounds. That is a lot of weight, and the tank holds more than 4 gallons too, so it potentially could be around 30lbs heavier just because of gas.

My ski doesnt really have a hard time starting.... It's a 2007 superjet with not to many mods yet, so it still starts easy..... sometimes if I sub it a lot or do a fountain it may take a few seconds of cranking to start back up.... not sure if this is because water injestion or lack of air in the compartment or what??? Sometimes I have to pull the choke out to fire it up.... I plan on installing a primer kit when I do the footholds this winter.... I love the light battery idea... I just don't want to get stuck in the middle of the lake! I hate it when that happens.

That would be sweet.... just hope that it would start on the 1st-3rd pull each time! that would get old fast if not.... lol.... maybe that would make us loose weight and then we would be lighter too!

he he he... true..

I got an idea... don't wear shoes and that will save ya a good 5-7lbs

hey slut (and other guys with little battery),

What happens if you fall off your ski and have to start it a few times within a minute or two? Does that little battery have a difficult time starting the ski after a few starts? Have you ever started it consecutive times or had any time where you could tell it was starting to get to the limit of that battery? Thanks.

Gimme some credit bro LOL I accounted for any gas in the ski DUH!!!!! Scale is accurate and calabrated monthly too.

It will not have near as much juice as a 16lb battery.... thats why it ways 4 or 5lbs/

There are some high cranking amp lightweight batterys on the market.... I will have to get the company name... I think it was a 7lb battery with 20 more cranking amps then a typical 16lb.
