BK... Yea Ive heard this to be true... but that was on 550 and 650 motors ive been dealing with...

I figured the 701's could use a little breathing room....

wasteland... again, you didnt read.... Thats the second time ive said I dont have stock impeller.....

Trust me on this one, if you plan to install a dry pipe and all you want is speed, then it fine, but for low end, it will suck.

WetWolf cone got in today, so I pulled the pump. Its got a very minor blue printing attempt done on it, and the stator veins are in great shape.

Turns out the impeller is a skat 10-18, though Im not sure what hub design... But that should be a very good impeller for me to stick with for now. I think Ill just pull it next week and take it to the shop to do a cutback on it.

Pump looks pretty now with that blue cone on it though...

Im off to grind out the syphon bilge venturi.

My camera blows.

That old 10-18 makes about the perfect load for a fast Superjet. Under pitched props are now very popular since everyone is doing circus tricks. I would bore that nozzle for harder pull.

Well I measured the nozzle and its 81.5mm. and the walls dont seem to leave very much for boring... perhaps a total of 2mm diameter bore, but then those walls will be paper thin....

The wetwolf cone and shaving down the syphon venturi DEFFINATELY helped.
I also, ground down the steering nozzle so I have an extra 7* or so of throw per side...

But then I went and Fed up, tried to retune the low jets, and ended up Fubaring the brass ends, so I need to get new ones this time with a cross bar.

edit: I think the washer has already been removed the trailing edge of the blades are already at the level of the pump...

And even with the ww cone and now knowing that the impeller is a 10-18 and not a 14-18, Im realizing how much the riva red pipe is limiting my bottom....

Foximus,

I have a 94 Superjet with all the standard mods (b-pipe, 175psi, msd, 3° static advance, carbon tech, wet wolf cone, worx 201, blah, blah, blah).

My current impeller is a Skat 9/17 Standard. I have tried the Solas Concord 13/17, 12/17, 12/15 (something like that...trust me a bunch of different bends), all cutback 3mm and all had an off idle dead spot, but great overall hookup. Not as fun as my Skat 9/17 Standard IMHO.

I just tried (yesterday) my friends Skat 12/17 Swirl cutback 3mm and it is a good prop. No off idle dead spots good hook up (maybe not quite as good hook-up as the Concord but no dead spots).

However, I don't really think I had any extra bottom end or top end from the Skat Swirl 12/17 -3mm compared to my Skat Standard 9/17. The Swirl does have a little better hook up and is harder to break free......but honestly I like being able to break free.

So I guess what I am saying is apply the $250.00 you were going to spend on a prop and get a Factory B-Pipe. If anything repitch the 10/18 to a 9/17 and you are set. If you have extra cash burning a hole in your pocket and feel you need the little bit of extra hook-up the Swirl provides...then drop the coin.

The old school Skat props are awesome props. Skat Trak got it right the first time. I keep trying to replace my 9/17, I just can't find anything significantly better.

The old Skat 13-16 thru 15-18 and 9-17,10-18 had well cambered blades and ran very smooth. The original Skat Slim-line had less blade camber and was fast but made a lot of cavitation vibration on standups. All Solas props made since 1993 work well. They made a couple of blade changes along the way so its hard to predict what the load will be for a given model number.

Well Im gonna stick with this impeller for sure (for now) and just spend my cash on the footholds/turf, trim setup, and the of coarse infamous B pipe.

Im also owed about $1000 by 3 different people.... nice eh?
