Does any one use allen head screws on two halfs of the box, if so what part # to find? Those philps head are a pain.

Use a #3 or #4 phillips(i cant remember off hand) bit and you should have no problem with taking them off or putting them on.

Yep, the #3 is the one to use, they are pretty soft stainless so the heads can get messed up pretty quick if you use the wrong bit or a power driver that slips. Don't over tighten and they should last a long time.

crammit442 got to me too, but currently I still have my OEM box. Tl is on order though.

Regarding the screws, they are a custom pitch. Since you are going into plastic, however, you could find something close that would suffice.

Because I am anal, at one time I went to the Yamaha dealer and paid $1.00 a piece for new ones (the heads were stripped like I assume that you are experiencing).

Contrary to what others have stated, you WILL have trouble removing these screws at one point in your life. I have used small vise grips in some cases.

Like others mentioned, use the largest screwdriver that fits, #3 Phillips I believe.

I don't think you can find course threaded allen bolts. Use a 3/8 air drill and a #3 like they said. You can tear a box in half in a few seconds. Just start them by hand or you will cross thread them and strip them out easily.

There not stripped. The hidden bling for that sub conscious finish is how I row!! And besides I cant handle this ski yet, just ask my friends so TL is not nessary, yet.

true bling is whatever screw lets you into that box easy and fast when you need to be there.

me personally, I drill drain holes in the plastic side of the box..

and I only use a portion of the original screws to seal it back up.

and funny enough, the ONLY times ive needed to get into the box, were before I started using the drain holes.

I don't like the concept of drain holes... just seal it properly to begin with, and you should be alright...

I'm thinking this winter of doing all JSS ebox stuff: external battery posts, external quick stator disconnect, and John is presently re manufacturing my start/stop switch and ebox wiring harness.
