SXR and SUPERJET freeride???

Ive got a mod sj and Marcel has a full blowsion build SXR. The sxr has killer looks truely but it lacks in manuevrebilityishness-one word. But 4 waveriding its a lot of fun, air I would recommend it 4 comp purposes.

My o2.

Okay, can I add the 750sxi/pro in the discussion. Where do you guys feel it lands in the freeriding equation. Been riding for a long while in Lake St. Clair Michigan boat wake, wave/chop type water. Very comfortable with Nose Stabs the next step or challenge is to work on completing the Barrel Roll. I know the SJ are the best freestyle boat, but how much of a disadvantage (if any) are Kaw 750 guys that want to accomplish BRs. I ride with a handful of guys with Kaws that are all at this point. Don't wanna sell my sweet 750sxi/pro and purchase a SJ for the main purpose to Roll. Know what I mean. Comments......... :barrel:

i dont agree that a superjet is cheaper to build, the sxr all you ned is a pipe, flywheel, head. and they rip. a superjet on the other hand you need all those plus, impeller, intake grate, rideplate and they still wont be as fast as the sxr....

there alot of cheap ways to lighten the sxr too, dont listen to the superjet boys, they have one thing on their mind and have no opinion about anything else... its real bias here

its not the weight...its the handling characteristics...IT DOES NOT RIDE WELL IN THE SURF!!!!!......its fine if you are cruising around in your footwells :clown: until you see something you want to jump,,but if you are actually doing agressive SURFRIDING you will want a sj...the sxr dosnt slide and that pretty much kills its surf riding ability and the nose seeks out the sand like a fricken torpedo...it can be ridden in the surf but not well...its funny all the sxr guys that say its good in the surf dont live withen 1000miles of an actual ocean...lakes dont count boys, sorry..and i did just spend time on an sxr in the surf that had a rrp pole, bpipe, prop etc etc..it as fun to cruise on but you couldnt slash breaking sections of the wave like the sj

Wydopen- what about Matt Smith- here's a CA dude who rips the hell out of SXR in the surf on the daily.
What about Darin Anderson?
Hell, even Pancaker has rolled a SXR in the surf.
What a like about the SXR is it does slide out unless you really want it too. It also hook ups much better in the white wash than sj.
But what do I know I'm just a racer who's a freeride hobbist.

ok..matt is a great rider..ive seen him ride multiple times...but his style is almost purley jumping which is fine and the sxr can do that..plus hes a huge dude

darin anderson?...yea he can do huge airs but even he can barley make that thing do a decent turn on the face of a wave...at least ive havent seen it...nose high reentries in the footwells isnt good surfriding and his ski is probally worth 30gs

no one said you cant roll an sxr...im saying it cant be wave ridden as good as a sj...surfriding isnt freestyle with a ramp...

Bottom line is ride as many different skis as you can and make your own decision, asking here will net you pretty much one answer (GET A SUPERJET) thats what happens when you ask a group of mostly superjet riders about an SXR.Its your money and you are stuck with what you buy,buy what you want ,ride it like a bandit and be happy, word.:buttkick:

Wydopen- I disagree
I hardly ever ride with my feet in the holds. As a racer, I'm always switch my stance back and forth just like I would making turns. Once you can turn a SXR well you can turn it anywhere. Ask the BL crew- I'm know to rip turns all the way out the inlet. The thing the makes the SXR harder to ride in the surf in the nose wants to sub under coming down the face of the wave. You have to be back in the tray or you will pile drive the bottom. I know I did last weekend in 6-8ft of surf. I think the SXR is just as good of surf slasher as sj as long as you know how to ride it.

you could do some grinding on the bottom of the hull to make it looser handling, also, find one of the pump wedges that are used in the 750's, tilt the reduction nozzle up to raise the trim of the ski........

A barrel roll can be done on any standup, it just takes time and practice. Doesnt' matter how many mods you have(though power does make it a bit easier), its all in the technique!!!!!!!!

set your motor back, and she wont nose dive...i never said anything about surf buy the way, because i have never really rode in it. i have ridden many superjets, and the only one i was really impressed with was pat bogarts (sp?0 when i rode it in GA. all the others i rode ran good, but i still think mine had more power and had better handling characteristics. its alot of opinion, and i say its biased at this site because mostly everyone has a superjet, and does not have an open mind about any other ski...

You will get way more out of a Superjet dollar for dollar.

Unless you have money to drop 8k or so on a Trinity ALL Carbon/Kevlar 65lb surf SXR hull .... when your complete boat ways 230lbs, you realy dont need anything more then a b-pipe for the surf..... hell that would be fine for me for flatwater, with the addition of a billet flywheel.

Hogwash.
I don't like the SJ the best because I own one - I own a Superjet precisely because it is what I like best.
I have ridden 550s, 650s, 750s, SXR, REV, and an Octane.

In the end, I like my SJ the best. Hence I own one.

How is this "not open minded"??? I have tried lots of skis and settled on what I like.

Which is exactly what I recommended earlier and what anyone contemplating buying a stand up should do_On the flip side if you want to ride a JS440 and it makes you happy then by all means do so regardless of what anyone else on here says.b

I'll agree with Scorn. I love my SXR in the Surf. I don't feel like there is anything that cannot be done on a SXR in the surf. I can carve and do re-entrys all day long. Mine is set up to be very loose. (d-cut/ stock intake grate) I can slide it around a throw it around all day long on the faces of waves. I could never do that on a stock SXR or one with an intake grate, however, but who rides ANY ski stock?

I think alot of people ride SXR's that are set up for racing and end up hating them.

I think the NRN will prove to be the ultimate set up.
