The idea with the smaller tank isn't just to run less gas - you have less volume available for the gas, so there won't be much sloshing around.

In my stock tank with less than one gallon left, I get cutouts quite often.
With a smaller tank I think it'd be less of an issue.

FREE'S UP SPACE... easy to make repairs.... dont run more than 2gals untill i come in for a break... its not a bg set back in $$ b/c you can sell your old tank... looks cool... and a few tanks have a backflip button

also another big thing is it allows you center the battery up.. moving the weight where you need (or dont need it) it is a big +

Found a couple of draw backs:

1) Its a clunk tank so when it runs out you get NO warning as it uses every last drop before cutting - if your a way off shore you screwed!...
2) Because its a clunk tank it sucks up every drop of fuel and water that normally stays at the bottom of a traditional tank - OK if you use a fuel/water seperator.

I AGREE, also my gas cap cover i cant crank down on that hart.. and affraid it might viberate off..

All very good points.

Gives you lots of space.

I do not need to relocate my battery as it is only 4lbs.

My tank dry/empty/whatever you want to call it weighs 4lbs less then a OEM SJ tank.

I get 45+ minutes of run time on my boat w/8.5L cart tank with a 780cc TLR Flattop/ and dual 46's..... havnt ran out of fuel yet.

I never have any problems with my setup.... unless I ingest too much water and have to turn it over forever on land after being towed in.

why haven't you moved your battery to the firewall and cut off/ shorten all the cables that go to the e-box/ground. do that you you can loose another poundish. thats what is happening at the shack this week. lol.

by moving it, it will make room for the side exit for the exhaust and the x-metal waterbox. nothing up front in the nose of the ski. just a u pipe from the chamber around to the waterbox which will be in the battery's old position. and then the outlet just before the firewall. my buddy is even going to remove the start button from his handpole and use a short wire to the relay from the dash area. lol. he is out of control.

think about how light the nose will be. going from a ffp alum box up front that holds how much water? switching to a x-metal box, installing a 5.4 lbs battery at the firewall, then a cart tank. it will make a big difference on his ski. you have done most of that so to do it to yours sounds....well insane but it should make a difference on his ski.

Oh yea, it will be a huge difference for sure.... put it on a scale.

Remember I have no foam, but it is reinforced and built for surf! It has held up great so far.

Where did he get all his ideas?

What about the lil 1-3 gallon tanks you get from SUMMIT RACING, anyone use any of these?

I think 2.5 gallons would be a perfect cross between only freestyle tricks and out having fun on the lake with friends.

BTW: What 5lb battery are you guys using?!!

yeah the 5lbs battery was all you man, i was going to get one a walmart then found one at the local hardware store and put it on their scale for nails and it was 5.4 lbs in the box with acid and cardboard. i think riverrat put his waterbox where his battery was. we both have foam in our ski but it is mostly dow foam and filled the voids with 1.2 lbs density foam. go light on the reinforcing on your next project and put on a ski-shack special hull brace.
