This is my auger that I use for work. Today somethign shot out the case wall and i couldnt find it. what would cause this to happen??

The screw is something that i fished out of the oil at the bottom with a pair of needlenose pliers.

did you get your holes dug?
I have the same auger and its always somthing with that thing but its a tough machine

no lol i have 78 mroe to go but I have a few backups. This is the first problem I've had with this thing in 7 years.

I'm curious mostly as to what could have caused this to happen. it sounded like a shotgun going off and blew pieces out the sidewall.

Could it be too high of rpm's or just a bearing failure in the crank or something.

yeah its a b+s. i found as replacement motor for only 400 bucks. upon closer inspection I found it is a rod bolt. The piston is just kinda hanging in there and the crank is missing bearings.

I figured it was. B+S are notorious for doing that. I don't know why either but it's not the first time I've seen it. If I were you possibly consider Tecumseh as a replacement.

Check out www.northerntool.com

They have decent prices on motors.

yeah i used to teach automotive and we used to hot up b and s engines
if you made them rev to hard then this would happen

Agreed. The funny thing is, the factory rev limit of 3600 rpms I think is too high for them. When I used to run them, I would actually tach them out lower at full speed because I was afraid they would blow. Weird.
