whats every ones opinions on wearing a helmet while out attempting freestyle?

i see tons of guys wearing them but it almost looks half and half with and with out.

im still not doing anything big but id like to get into it more. just wondering what you think and what other protective gear should be worn

Depends how much you value your brain? Some are not worth protecting mine is.

Would you like to wear a helmet all day every day because you didn't have one on?

wear one... It's one thing getting knocked out on land, but it's a whole nother ball game on the water...

You can drown very easily

I like the wake ace with ear protection or 666 for hull face.

The lid Slut wears is also a good option for real protection of the teeth.

Don't put your head in a $20 lid.

i went to my local bike shop and picked up a downhill mountain bike helmat. i chose one that looked like it had good drainage. told the guys what i was using it for and they had never heard of someone doing flips rolls stabs and catching huge air. lol

i always do there are a lot of scratches and nicks on mine from me hitting my head on the hood, thank god i was wearing a helmet. i have blacked out for a couple of seconds with my helmet on, i dont even like to think what would of happened if i wasnt wearing one. So i say wear one!

Ditto!! If you're going big at all, then put a helmet on. That said, I don't wear one when I'm tooling around on flatwater unless I plan on doing something silly. The flip side is that I don't do anything silly when I'm not wearing my helmet. One caution though: There's nothing funny about half a barrel roll with a full face helmet - I've had whiplash pretty badly from that, and fear for my neck.

I tried that once after busting my knee and shin on the handlebars....
I bought some guards similar to these, but they rip right
off in the water (only attached with velcro).

And, they are too bulky to go UNDER the wetsuit, so I don't use them.

So, should I be wearing one when I start attempting barrel rolls? I don't wanna break my neck BECAUSE I was wearing a helmet.

Thats sucks..Has happened to me the last couple of days while i've been out trying to BR. Feels like your head is just gonna get ripped off.

i havent worn a helmet for any real reason for about 8 years, but we still have two full face ones laying aorund. I was wondering how should it fit? one is small and a little tight, but i can practically lick the mouth guard, and the other fits a little loose, but seems huge compared to the rest of me. would i be ok with the small tight helmet or just go buy a new one?? sorry for the hijack
