Limiting downward pole travel

I think if I could limit downward pole travel I would ride better and with less fatigue. I find reaching below my knees I'm less stable. I'm thinking about 22" - 24" between handlebars and the tray, no less.
Anyone ever tried this or seen it done? I know it would be harder to get back on after a fall, but I believe I could still get up into the tray it'll just take a little more effort.

Yes I have a aluminum shortened pole, it's not the weight but the bending over, I'm 6'0".Sometimes in turns I wish I could lean down on the bars but in order to do this, I have to reach beneath my knees.

Yeah thats the route I was headin' but the height I'm trying to achieve I'm going to need a large block of pad foam.
I was just curious if anybody else has done it, and if they needed to reinforce the hood.

You need a really stiff pole. Some Guys i ride with ride with their poles so tight, you almost have to jump on them to get them down.

same effect, easier on the hood.

You mean a stiffer spring that might be the easiest way,I wonder if I'll break the pole with that kind of fulcrum action.

Five0addict- I'm not advanced enough to be barrel rollin' maybe someday.
and as for the workout, yep probably should ride more and adapt like everyone else.

No, I mean aftermarket Aluminum pole, with after market bracket, and dual bolts that you can torque the hell out of.

Like this.

You can have it as tight as you want it.

if it really is an issue just stack up a couple handlepole pads so your pole rests higher on the hood.

Mike, do you remember the big funky block of wood covered in HT that was on that old square nose? I must have a picture somewhere, It was sort of goofy, and it kept the pole super high, but I sort of had a thing for it.

There is an old joke with the StLouis crew about this but you might want to try this. Get semi small playgroung ball and wedge it under the pole near the pivot. Duct tape it in place and see if you like it. Just as a trial...LOL

I broke a pole spring one weekend and was having a hell of a time holding the pole up so that started the joke. Make sure that it doesn't pop out under pressure that would hurt the frank and beans pretty bad.

Maybe a new blowsion spring and a Handle Pole Spring Tensioner might do the trick, but I would like to put my body weight into the bars. I think It would make turns more aggressive, I could lean in... instead of balancing in...
Im sure it just boils down to learning to ride better, all of you guys don't need this crutch I'm searching for,at the same time no other pwc,atv,bicycle,motorcycle,snowmobile..anything other than standup jet ski's have a pivoting handlebar system,it's just a little akward having a loose handlebar IMHO.

Maybe I should just get a waveblaster :cheer:

when you are turning hard your pole should just about be on the hood anyways....
