SN SJ Elbow Pain!

I have been playing with my new (to me) 1990 SN SJ.
When doing a deep water start, I grab the handlebar and put my elbows on the sides of the tray rails. No problem on my Kawi, but the SN has this weird lip and the next thing I know I have a severe pain in the elbow. I thought it was a fluke, but then it happened with the other elbow. :banghead:
Anyone else have problems with this?
I plan to slap some scraps of B-stock onto the side rails for the summer and then next winter put in footholds and returf.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanx!

When I returfed, I added 8mm padding on that rail before laying turf. It builds it up high enough to no longer be a problem. I still need to do it to the wife's SN. It's a night and day difference.

Make sure to taper sand the edges of the pad

Myself & Phill have shaved down that lip on the last six-eight inches of gunwhale on 3 squares. Much easier on the elbows.

when i fall off and have to reboard, i grab the bars and put one foot on the tray, hit the throttle and stand right up.no dragging behind and elbows never touch.

i kind of feel special, im not real light but i got good balance i can stan up in the tray not even moving without tiping over. :woot: (135lbs)

Not real light? Damn, I have movements larger than you.:purr:

The best way to get rid of those stupid ridges, is to sell the ski and get a Round nose.:woot:

maybe I will win the RN this weekend :woot:

short of that, I have a set of WD REVs and a bunch of b-turf in the garage for next winters chop, cut, rebuild, and then those ridges are gone!

too true, too true, I have this problem with finish work and usually have too many projects ongoing.
I will slap some bstock on the ridges for the summer and not worry about it until after I finish the kawi.
only have one ski in construction at a time!

when my elbows start hurting (or if i wanna look cool) i turn the ski on its left side, put right knee in tray, start it, crank bars to right and handful of throttle. It'll pop up right under you. I'm 190# and it works

I shaped the turf to round off the contours and slapped some bstock from scraps on there.

I think this is going to work!!! :woot: :woot:

i still dont understand why you guys are putting your elbows on the gunwhales...seems awkward and would take too long...

left hand on left grip, right hand in tray....push down with right hand while bringing right knee into try and boom, youre there and no pain

it isnt just deepwater starts that does it.
I completely chaged my style, and still managed to crack an elbow on that stupid ridge while riding.
That funny bone nerve can be very tender!
But it should be all good now:biggthumpup:

I dont like pain
