I believe the SXR is wider so you would probably have to shave the lip off the side and mold the top deck directly on the SXR bottom. I would just call WD and get a SXR bottom on top deck of your choice......it would be more expensive but lighter.

I feel the sxr bottom could be a great freeride ski. by putting a top deck on it you could get the hull to around 100lbs, which isn't the lightest but the sxr needs a little weight to act right. really lite sxr hull supposedly doesnt handle as well as superjets. A completly bare bottom deck, (really bare, no glue, bulkhead, etc nothing is going to be in the upper 60lbs range. It blows my mind that more people dont try it. Malones boat is obviously in a different class, why doesn't anyone go that route?

Here's how to shave 100lbs off an sxr. the green glue is an absolute nightmare, still have tons of grinding, sawing, sanding till the bottom is bare

Exactly!!! My buddy's stock SXR hull weights in just over a 100 lbs. It's lighter than most SJ's with all the stuff. 36 grit and air grinder!

The bottom deck is a lot smaller than the upper on an SXR. The upper deck sticks wayyyyy over.

I think it would take a lot of the weight off. Most of the weight on an SXR is the heavy waterbox and that big ass 30 lb. hood.
