Where do you guys put your registratiuon #'s on your ski..........what are tha laws on displaying them? Does it matter?........I had them on the side of my handle pole and did not get to much greif from the water patrol when they did a "safety inspection". I was thinking of putting them in the HP tunnel.

Depends on the state.
Here in Michigan, they have to be on the front half of the ski, above the bond line, and they cannot be on the handlepole.
Not much creativity allowed with that stuff, huh?

This is the same information that a Florida Marine Patrol officer from the Panama City area told me about the requirements in the State of Florida.

I had my numbers on the handlepole, no fire extinquisher, and no registration with me :)irked: ) I still have to correct this situation on one of my skis. I was let off with a verbal warning because I was polite and courteous.

Now the watercops in Daytona---those guys are cool.

Mine are on my handlepole and I live in michigan. Sheriff never saiud anything about it to me, neither did the DNR lady at the boat launch one day when they clearly looked at my ski to check it out and see if it was registered.

"Ignorance of the law is no excuse..." for you OR the DNR, Marine Patrol, etc.

I think it's that way everywhere---it depends on what area of the State you ride in, the knowledge level and concern about PWC in that area, and the general attitude of whoever is enforcing the law in that locale.

I think I will put it on the hull where it is supposed to go. It is an eye sore to me but if it keeps me from:

1) having to do it again or
2) getting a ticket.

I always get stopped at the beginning of the season for a safety check anyway.

its not ignorant. if they see it and dont tell me its illegal, then its not a problem. the dnr lady rides around on a sea doo, so im sure she'd know.

I've been told 3 different things from 3 different officers.

I've been told on the handlepole is not acceptable, that under the bondrails is not acceptable and that above the bondrail is not the correct place also.

It just depends on the officer more than the actual regulations around here it seems.

I cant see how below the bond rail is a problem unless its below the water line.
I figure they end up getting damaged/worn there though.

I have my registration numbers on one side only and have been pulled over more than a few times with just verbal warnings.

It's always good to keep a extra set on hand too. :sneaky:

I have mine on the hood. I just used 2 inch high numbers. You're supposed to use 3 inch high numbers in vertical block letters. I've been stopped and checked for fire ext and registration with no problems on the letters. I'd rather put them on the handle pole, but some of the lakes I go to are a little more strict than others.
