Prop removal blues... wah wah waaaah

So just to start out, this is not a thread asking how to remove a prop. I know how, just having a hard time. Have what looks to be a super clean solas prop in a pump I just bought. Looks like a concord. Went out there tonight and tried to take it off. Used a lot of heat on the prop, then slip the prop tool in place, gave it some love, and it won't budge. Put so much force it bent the hell out of the prop tool. It isn't round any more on the inside, its a nice oval shape. Gonna get another tool tomorrow from a buddy. We'll see how round two goes. Ding!!!

1) only use a boxed - end wrench, that will help with the bending of the prop tool 2) not to be a smart arse, but you do know that Yamaha's are reverse thread, right?

I broke an ear off of a pump lat year trying to remove one.
I had it clamped to a 400lb table, and using an 18" breaker bar.

Its still on there.

Yes I know it is reverse thread. I didn't use a box wrench, but used a quality huge snap-on crescent, don't know if that matters.

A crescent wrench is one of the WORST tools to use for that job. The only thing worse would be pliers.

You need to use a closed box wrench.

Stanley makes a good wrench for that job; I bought one after I used one at work on SCUBA tanks.

It locks on SUPER tight, basically Vise Grips that don't mar the threads. I have put a big ol pipe on the end of it in some situations, gives great leverage. Maybe that would work for you? -Kurt

Wrong tool for the job. It is VERY simple:

Use the closed end. You want pressure on each of the six sides, not just two (as you would with the other two "tools")
