That is the same place that your foot is when you install waterdawgs REV's. Well if you grind the side out and mount them in the ski instead of the last few pictures I have seen of them where the ankle relief isn't cut out.

I guess the wider stance could give you a little more control, but I cant see it being a big enough difference to justify that much work.

Is that your ski? I installed my REVs the same way..... I thought I was being different compared to all the others that installed them too far forward to make the install easier.

you wont be able to get any leverage leaning on the sides if you cut them out like that.

exactly what I said in micmacs build thread. you would have nothing to lean on to gain balence and leverage.

dj I see that you have the bottom of the back side drawn with a releif, is that just bad drawing or are you planning on cutting some off for a backflip hull?

i love the foothold idea! i have never liked the toes out stance that normal open footholds force you into

So would their be any functionaly reason behind getting rid of the side walls and having basically a small deck on the back of the ski?

You could always add a little sidewall for leverage with your legs.

I was working on building my own holds so that the outside of my foot was on the outside of the ski and my foot faced forward. NO more of that toe out toe hold idea. When I seen these I was stoked I couldn't believe that someone made what I was working on. So I scrapped my whole drawing board and ordered a set of Jeff's... WOW is all I can say.

My new ski has crappy turf and "someone elses" footholds. (I don't want to mention names but they are the toe holds) But I am not redoing the turf untill I see if I can live with these holds. It is like going back to a 4 cylinder after your used to 600 horsepower car. I don't think I can handle it but I will try.

Now that I've been thinking about it for a while it seems like a good idea but better balance also comes from ankle support not just wider stance.

It would be similar to the skis with footstraps and the rails removed.
