re-turfing

When I returf do I need to clean all the old glue and turf remains off before new turf ? Or will I be ok with cleaning all the loose garbage off ? Thanks much, Jason.

Amen to that. Make it shine. Then scuff it all up with some sandpaper so the turf sticks when you glue it.

One tip for turf: Use masking tape or painters tape and tape off the edges of the tray, especially if you have a nice paint job, that way you won't get glue everywhere which where and ruin that new paint with acetone.
And as always, measure 500 times and cut once.

Tip number 2: Make sure the glue is hazed over before you put the turf down.

Tip number 3: A heat gun is your friend.

I'm in mid build right now. I removed all my turf by first pulling large pieces off with a knife.

Than acetone + drywall scraper to remove as much turf glue as possible.

After that I took a power sander to clean up all the little bits remaining with 80 grit.

If you want your paint and fiberglass to remain intact don't use acetone or the sander. I'm painting and repairing so I didn't care how badly I butchered the tray.

Prep it well, do two or three layers of contact cement, don't use the green can, always use the red can.

Two sets of hands works out the best, and yes a heat gun/blow dryer and beer are your best friends.

I have turfed over old glue. its been sticking good for a year. on my ski that I am doing know I got all the old glue off though.
