Yamaha bolt are chrome plated steel, if they get crusty enough the chrome comes off when you wire wheel them . . . . . .

When ever my ski is gonna see salt water I hose it down with liquid wrench before and after I ride.

I use the stuff in the Blue can not the Yellow can. The stuff in the yellow can has some black Graphite crap in it, it's more of a penetrant for stuck bolts . . . .

I just bought some new ones and sprayed them with clearcoat.

I can't stand having rusty nuts and bolts.

Although is has not happened to me, I have heard that chasing the threads everytime is not the best practice on parts you remove frequently. Each time to do it, it takes a small about of alum (and threadloc) off the threads and it ends up at the bottom of the bolt hole. It can build up over time and can lead to stripped threads since the bolt can not go to the bottom anymore.

lol at nut buffer

Which is why you use a bottoming tap, not a starter tap.

A bottoming tap does taper at the end, and is made to get to the bottom of the hole.

I agree that if the bolt was taken out all the time, you probably don't want to chase it all the time.

and bolts?

when I assemble my new motor and boat I need to clean all the old schmutz off the bolts.
