Ride Plate Gap

I have a 96-07 Superjet and I think the ride plate is from a couch. There is a 1/2" gap between itself and the pump shoe/intake grate. It rides fine to me, but maybe i'm cheating myself out of performance. IThe ski is for the surf, so should I consider a RN d-cut plate, worx WR315, or leave it alone?

Fill the gap with silicone. And call it a day.

I’m not sure how long that will last because it’s wide enough to fit my pinky finger and touch the base of the pump lol. Maybe I can 3D print a piece to fill the gap and then put silicone there. And add a d-cut while I’m there. Cheapest method.
