Super Jet B pipe manifold brass fittingd

Hi,

I'm after some advice if possible

My b pipe manifold came with both sides tapped for dual cooling. The brass fittings are loose though. Should they be sealed with anything on the thread and screwed up tight? I've tried searching the web but can't find any info

Added Plummer tape to threads and tighten, should clock/locate nipple towards where you want hose to enter from... usually both face rear of ski with one slightly ahead of the other so both hoses have room to clear each other....

Edit: Npt pipe taps are tappered, the deeper they tapped the hole with the tap the larger the opening to the hole will be and can make the first section of threads fell loose. The brass fitting is also tappered and gets wider higher up the threads creating an interference fit as they are screwed together....

There are two different types of pipe threads, with the summary being that one fits tighter than the other. If the fittings you have are the looser ones, perhaps all you need is to switch to the others. Maybe add some sealant too, both to seal it and act as lube when installing the fittings.

This is more commonly used on pipe threads. You can use lots of layers, no problem-that way the fitting will tighten before the threads bottom out. There maybe an issue with British pipe threads being different- I don't remember- but the teflon thread tape should cure that.

Harbor, the man in the video is a plumber......... You only need lots of layers of tape if trying to build up the threads to keep the fitting from bottoming out before it seals- otherwise a couple might/ will do.

Two to three wraps is recommended but you could also put anti seize compound then wrap your thread tape over

Better yet, just spit on it and torque it to 42.06969 ft lb

You’ve obviously never had to seal up an old ass piece of equipment with a bolt or threads which are unable to be tapped larger.

We have condensate pumps at work that are original to the power plant from the early 60’s. Every time we rebuild a pump we have to use Teflon on the four flange bolts on the suction side of the pumps because the threads are all so loose and wiped out. I’ll put 1/4 a roll on one bolt to get it to hold water back .
