What do you use to remove studs?

I know there are stud kits for installation of studs (Motion Pro), but what do you use for removal?

Ex: ADA head studs, intake manifold studs (like studs incl. with Riva spacer), or carb studs on a manifold

I like to use a Big acetaline torch [The Blue Wrench] and small vice grips !! Ive never had a stud i couldnt get out with this system , works for me !

I use the double nut system but I used some of Tricky1's stud removal sockets and they rock.

They also double as a toolto get stripped bolts out aswell since they dont use any kind of pattern.

I have a 4 piece set like this one

I bought it from the MAC man it was on sale for $45. I have torn up a few from trying to take stripped bolts out (just cut the head off and it's stud) but since there Mac I get new ones each time heck I even broke one by dropping a piece of steel on it and he replaced that one too..

I am not too keen on the S&K (slip and kill) tools there is no place to replace them around here and strap on or Mac can always beat their prices.

I simply use a common Craftsman bolt extractor set, works fine on bolts and studs.
Don't remember the part number, available at any Sears around here, can take a picture of the set later.

EBAY is the best tool place on earth... I bought a tap and die set about 3 months ago on ebay for $65 ish delivered. Here is a link to the kit 117 piece set it had quite a few broken taps and a couple striped dies but after a visit to the Matco guy I got a almost new complete set for less than 1/4 the new price.

all of MY tools are "stud tools"

although, I am technically retired.

I usually double nut, lock washer between.
if that doesnt hold then ADD some vice gripage on a non-used portion of the stud.

I try hard not to use heat, i prefer brute force, I prefer busted knuckle over burnt flesh.

I get hurt alot.
