I'm looking to make a waterproof part that is lexan bolted to aluminum and it needs to be submersable. I figured that the same material as the ebox gasket would work well but am open to other materials. I don't know what material to buy. The gasket would be 14.5x5. I'd be cutting it with an exacto knife. I make my aluminum parts by putting wood patterns on a router table.

Thanks.

I was going to say send me an stl and I'll 3d print one in TPU (thermoplastic polyurathane) for you to see how it works.

I can only print up to 330mm x 330mm (x 400mm height) so I am just under the size you need though.

someone made a carb gasket from TPU:
and it seems to have worked.

You could have one printed here for a few bucks https://www.3dhubs.com/

What about using a large oring?

Yeah, you can get that stuff in rolls and cut it like a piece of paschetti, bond it the same way we have to with the ADA head o-rings. As a side note on the neoprene, with the material you get out of the center of your square cutout you could use to also make engine block off seal kits for crankcase pressure testing.
