Wtf is this porting?

A couple years ago I bought a modded fx1 it had a 140 pump and some other mods but after driving it for a few hrs I noticed the thing would just randomly kill when it got hot. Took it to a 2 stroke guy. 30year experience dude He noticed piston slap and bet the crank was about done. He split the case and found a bad rod bearing it had a ton of play.

But also he found the port work done. He said it was BS and probably routed the fuel in front of the crank and not around the crank. He guessed this probably had a big reason for the motor issue.

What do y'all think?

I think you care too much about a set of used 61x cases.
Porting is overated.
Also, I am concerned about you sentence structure. Is there a complete sentence back there somewhere?

I'm simply asking what's going on with this port work

Hey man, not everyone here is going to be a smart ass to you. I can't answer your questions but don't get turned off to the community.

Unfortunately most of the answers you would get would probably not be too reliable. There are only a handful of people on here that I would trust to tell me anything of use about such a thing, but people like Blue are often too busy working on projects to catch every post, and it's not really fair to tag these people in threads and expect free customized advice from them.

On one side, post 4 was a bit harsh. On the other side you didn't exactly have much of a question. I would believe the guy with 30 years of experience over some keyboard cowboy giving you expensive bad advice. Your guy says its bad porting then it's probably bad porting. Replace the case. You could arrange to buy a replacement case from a reputable builder. That way you can start by asking if the cases you have are any good to use or in trade, and would know you are buying a quality replacement. If you are going to take the time of the builder to get advice, then you should respect that by giving them your business when you replace it.

I was wondering if this is some sort of porting technique or what? I replaced the case years ago. Just curious

Intake porting is a thing. Opening the exhaust posts beyond a certain point means you needs to get more intake air to match. This is not something I know much about otherwise. A lot of people do home porting and mess it up. Your engine guy said this is an example of a bad job. That's why the $1700 Jetmaniac motor is a good buy. Blue knows how to do it right. That's about the jist of it.

If you are just asking out of curiosity, which it sounds you are, you should download the 2-stroke tuners handbook. It's free.

61xcases are ported differently than the 62t pics OCD posted. Your original pic is a set of some what ported 61x cases. Thats not the best job but i think their intent was to help the air and fuel get up to the cylinder faster.

Couple more

I have a extra crank and 6m6 top end. Think it would be worth a try in this case?

Wouldn't that just bypass the crank bearings? Gotta keep them lubed right?

Enough fuel and oil will still lube the crank. I dont cut the boost port in the center like they did but it should still run ok.
