I kept the stock apperence of the superjet because i didnt want to have any hassle competing with it this year.im gonna be using the bottom of a 94 square thats in the backround. i got the mold done than did a ton of research on the internet and made alot of phone calls thanks alot Steve of Watercraft Factory and also thanks to Wamilton they both have been huge help.I finaly decided to what to use for my actual topdeck.e glass,3/4 mat and 12oz biax.
I did the first 2 layers after the gelcoat and pulled it out to season the mold also see if i was gonna have any inperfections

That's a really cool project. Have you done glass work before?

I'm guessing you must have done something similar before to figure out what to use as a parting agent. Can you explain that process a little? How did the mold hold up - can you make more topdecks on it?

Nice job!
I love the shorter hull, and the trim job you did on the rails in the back.
I've seen that somewhere before...

thanks alot everyone.i have done very little glass work before but the hours or research on the internet paid off.i used a 99sj to make the mold off of it had footholds in i took off and have to cover up.they sell a parting agent called mold release.it can either be sprayed or brushed on i brushed it on.before the mold release they have a wax that i used just to insure it didnt stick to the ski.after the release drys spray the gelcoat let that setup and then lay the glass over it.gettin it to release takes a ton of prying and being careful not to brake the mold.once the mold is off you simply do the same process to the female mold to get the final part.ill post some links to where i did the research for everyone.yes my mold is reuseable the pics of the mold are after i pulled out a test peice and after i pulled out my final peice

thanks alot freestylegeek i think that trim job is about to become a common thing on skis:smile: im actually more like 2 1/2 shorter with it being on a angle but im excited to ride it.right now im making my footholds up and im gonna move them 2in foreward and im gonna get my pole as far foreward as i can im making my own bracket so im hoping to gain 2 inches on that.i also seen that somewhere before.

I think you'll REALLY like the end result.
It will be a little slippery, but it will do EVERYTHING fast.
Just make sure the bars clear the hood. :arms:

what to use to put top and bottom togather

hey freestylegeek if you happen to check this again what did you use to bond your top and bottom togather and how much of it do i need to get.anyone else feel free to chime in
thanks

How much resin did you go through making the the mold of the top deck? Did you use uscomposites to get all your stuff?

Very nice job, making a mold of our chinpad was enough work for me. I can't imagine molding a top deck, well atleast not with the fast cure epoxy.

homemade hulls. i love it!

20 years from now, people will be talking about us the way we now talk about the 70's choppers guys and the rat-rodders of the 50's and 60's.

nice.
that's an intersting thought. I luv me some home made hulls though. I can't wait to get started on mine :cool2:
