Light weight hulls

Dieting is the way 2 save weight people!?! I only weigh29.45 pounds so what do the pros weigh....... Ive ridden a few lightweight hulls but mine is stock and reinforced and so damm!!! hevy I think its xtra heavy but so strong and its 4 flatwater but my motor is ripping.....(SO IN SHORT THE LIGHT HULL WILL MAKE YOU GO HIGHER FOR STYLE POINTS IF YOU WNAT2 COMPETE AT WORLD FINALS.......BUT SKILL COUNTS PEOPLE,so biuld the motor then the hull IMO......) MY O2...

My .02 is lightweight and power go hand and hand in flatwater freestyle. Durablity will depend on your riding ablity, target weight and what materials/process are employed in making the hull. -50lbs in flatwater is huge and is just as good as power

on the subject of light weightness, my motor pulls hard but if i ride with the hood off(i tryed it for technical reasons, like gasleaks), the ski seems to pull tonnes harder. i am running a stock hood at the moment and obviously i cant do tricks while the hoods off.
so my question is, would an aftermarket hood make the ski pull harder ( a noticable diff.?) or is it just for the lowness?
cheers
Sorry for slightly off topic

Every little bit of weight saving helps but you are only looking at saving about 10lbs....so I would say no it would not be noticable. What you are probably feeling is the motor running better off that fresh air charge. Check for exhaust leaks, you may have one if the difference is very noticable.

It's just gonna take in less water, and be lower for hood, and jump tricks

nope theres no air leaks, its just the nose rose up quicker when i revved, not alot but better, after all the stock hoods are soooooo damn heavy. i have been looking at the watercraft factory hoods, they look sweet and not too expensive if i have my currency calculations right lol. i am running a low bracket so all i would need is a hood and nose. does anyone know the weight of a stock hood by itself and the weight of the stock hull?:)

I have one of these lightweight.de hulls and whatelse should I tell you then, I like it :cat05: ?? It is a full carbon hull. Its light and holds up very good, but is not as easy to ride, than a stock hull. It should be better with tubbies, which I ll install this winter. Better riders like Rok Florjancic and Marc Sickerling do flatwater backflips with it and none of the existing hulls ever broke, allthough most of the time they re ridden in the surf Sickerling, Gtom, Krüger...
Some guys on here saw it at lanier, and Yamaslut,MikeSerlin rode it... maybe they can post their oppinion too. I dont have any better picutres at the moment. and i still dont have my ski back from the us to take better ones :woot: I know that they will probably not sell very good in the Us because of the price. We pay 8500€ for a complete hull and you ll get it for probably 10 500$ or more, because of the € - $ conversion, tax, shipping, dealer...??

I want to thank all of you again for making my stay as nice as it was.... Lanier, Daytona, Lake Norman, Lake Mead and Oceanside are really great riding spots and we Germans can only dream of such!! the USA is really one of the nicest countries! I ll try to post more on the board again, as soon as I have more time.

see ya

P.s.I m jellous to see nick ride with out fullsuit  cool vid by the way nick!!

Wammer says most light wieght huls are "like riding a bar of soap". This coensides with Jensnonsens's saying it is much harder to ride. Interesting. I would not want to be on a bar of soap in the surf. But I want a light wieght hull:feedback:

Thats because SJ's handle like shiet!:haha: You make a stock SJ bottom hull, with all the weight reduction, and it handles even shietier..... but it does come out of the water better.

I'm running a light weight hull. It is a mostly stock 94 FX1 (About 40lbs lighter than a SJ) Typically they run about $1,000 cheaper than a super jet so the price is woth it IMO. and because Yamaha built it, the fit and finish are great!

nice to see ya on here again Jens.... we'll miss ya in Daytona

he he he... that boat was silly... I really could not ride it... I know that is embarrasing, but it would take me a month to get use to the light weight combined w/ the 10mm hand built beast of a motor he has in it... That boat had more pop than anything I have ridden...

Eddie and I have talked about this a lot. Seriously, the fx1 hull seems like the way to go for flatwater guys on a budget. With the pump mod you can have a ski thats almost equivelant to having a lightweight hull for next to nothing.
I did get to ride Jensens boat, and it was insane. i didn't even realize that kind of power was possible.

in lanier, i felt like i was riding a paper clip when i rode a pat bogart-built lightweight wammer boat with a 5mil stroker motor.

if i had that boat, i'd be happier than a pig in shiot! that boat was WWWWWWAYYYYYYY over my level of ability. simply amazing.

if i could afford a light hull (i mean EASILY afford it), i think i'd have one.

my boat feels like it rides IN the water. the lightweight boat felt like it rode ON the water.. if that makes any sense at all. ??

so, when you rode mine....did it feel like it ran UNDER the water?

not anymore :cool2: :haha:

i'd like to see a back to back of Jens' boat vs. the REV12

if it rides like its ON the water then i want one. insteadof plowing up my wake on flat water i want to slip up it like a bar of soap as quickly as poss. for maximum height!!
but....im never gonna get one. and if i had to save for one i would go for the fully carbon cos it looks kool and seems like it would be the lightest.
even if it rode different i would get used to it eventually and use the diff.s to my advantage.:woot:
