Spending X-Mas in Ft. Lauderdale. Should I bring the ski?

Well I'll be in Ft. Lauderdale from the day before Christmas Eve until New Years day and I'm thinking about bringing the ski.

Anyone in the area up for some riding? I'm really not too wild about riding alone so if no one will be riding that week I'll probably leave the ski at home in Clearwater.

How's the surf in Ft. Lauderdale? I know it's the east coast, but I hear the Bahamas block a lot of the swells that would potentially hit the Ft. Lauderdale area.

Yeah man I just got down to Florida today and I'm loving the heat. I cant wait to get on the water. I've just have to get the ski back together tomorrow.

This morning I was in Alabama though and I have to admit it was pretty warm there too. You all should be able to get some pretty good riding in before xmas.:biggthumpup:

I flew to Ft Lauderdale Dec 20th last year. My air port = cold, stop at Atlanta = COLD, get off the plane in Ft lauderdale wearing 2 shirts, hoodie and jeans. Airports are always cold so i thought nothing of it...I walk out the doors and GASP!!!!! I about died instantly!

The further north of Boynton you go, the better the odds of having good surf. Boynton and South of that have nice clean surf, but only if its huge to epic 20 to 30 miles North. The Bahamas really put a hurt on the surf (swell) from Boynton --> South.

I rode Sabastion on 12/16 and its was pretty nice at 3-5ft out by the hole.

It sounds like the days everyone will be riding will be Sunday(Xmas Eve), Tuesday and Thursday(Between Xmas and New Years), and New Years Eve.

I'll be arriving this Saturday so I'd definitely be up for some riding on Tuesday and Thursday.

Where does everyone ride? I believe my Aunt lives on the golf course that is near the intersection of Prospect and Commercial. Anyone know where that is?:dunno:

my buoys are with another rider, he is our designated buoy person.


sorry dan all my race boats are in pieces, you can see the hulls. they are totally gutted at the moment.

my new motor is going to be done soon, and last years motor is on the bench. all i got is the 05 race boat with the judge cheater limited in it and the sj limited.

Why don't y'all come up another hour and a half to Sebastian on Christmas eve. I may be able to sneak away for a few hours. :biggthumpup:

might be able to get the buoy man out xmas eve need to call him, when we can ride on sunday at the good lake about 10 miles from prospect and comm.

otherwise it is the ocean unless you drive to palm beach.

sorry dan looks like buoy day is going to be dec. 23 on saturday, which means i will probably be working on boats sunday. and maybe squeeze in some family time.

weather is not looking to promising for the holiday anyway.
