I finally got a superjet!

Well, I finally bought a sqarenose, it's a basketcase because the P/O got water into the engine (it wasn't running), let it sit, then tore it apart to find that one, maybe two of the main bearings had rusted. It's got a coffman's exhuast, scoop grate, grooved ride plate, skat-trak 14/17 (I think) impeller, ocean pro flame arrestor, and Aftermarket (4* ? ) bars. I paid $500 for it with a rolling shop stand and a gallon of 2-stroke oil. I'm planning on doing some porting (holy crap you were right about yamaha port matching Matt!) maybe front exit exhuast, foot hols ( Waterdawg customs, unless somebody advises me otherwise for my size 12s), reinforcing and filling in the scratches on the hull, shaving the fuel door, scupper, bilge, hoodstraps. limiter rope, and maybe shaving a spare head I have...

Congrats Luke!!!

Couple of things: If you'd like to try the Waterdawg holds, I got them in my garage (uninstalled).
The port matchup is bad, yes. However, what you got pictured is the exhaust port on a 650. The sides can and should be ground to match. The height is done that way purposely though.
I Have raised the height about 1mm on those ports with success. There are a few good pointers to porting the 650 cylinder specifically...drop me a PM or email and we can discuss it. :sneaky:

Also, if you need parts or just help with the Superjet, let me know...i've been around a few.

congrats suva Im geussing you sold that 650?? still got the 750 conv? Your plans sound similar to mine as well. If I ever get to it. Have fun man see ya when it warms up LOL

No, I still have both the kawasakis. Wanna buy one?:haha: The "if I ever get to it" is gonna be the hard part...

Okay, here's the crank. I hosed all of the bearings down with wd-40, and found rust coming out of the flywheel and output end bearings. The middle ones came out pretty clean, and none of the bearings have any slop yet.

I changed my mind and turned it into a kayak. I think I see whitewater ahead...

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

I briefly entertained the idea of buying that 750 from you so I could put it in my X2 but then I realized I did not have the money. Do you still have that pipe? If you do I still want to get it from you.

I used a wire wheel on an angle grinder to get most of the turf off, then scraped
some more off with a gasket scraper, then hosed it down with GOOF OFF and pressure washed it. Worked pretty good. I'm planning on reinforcing the tray, should I lay mat on the bottom and the sides of the tray, or will just the bottom be sufficient?

On the square you'll want to reinforce the tray, and reinforce the 90 degree angle where the tray/rails meet.
