Carbs and couplerrr on... Used the nylon rope in the cylinder trick to torque the coupler on.

Ok.. this was the tough part. I couldn't tighten those two top middle bolt on the B-Pipe manifold because the power valves were in the way of the wrench. Called JetManiac and he gave me the solution... take the power valves off. Now the manifold could be bolted on, but then we couldn't get the power valve back on. Had to grind a little bit off the manifold.... alls well that ends well.

We had to line up the motor to the coupler three times because we kept forgetting stuff we should have done.

It's in!!! Ran a bit short of fuel line and had to splice in some orange we had lying around. we'll order some more, but want to ride tomorrow.

First ride was awesome... love the PHP 898!. We took it pretty easy for the first couple of tanks... found the b pipe coupler strap we forgot to tighten and had to tow it in, but that was the only real ride issue. I think some tuning is in order. The motor feels like it is running a bit rich, but that's OK during the break in. At the end of the day I tried to flip and pogo'd a couple of them... almost there.

The Rad Dudes aluminum exhaust tube was making contact with the intake manifold so had to swap it our for a silicone hose.

Got the Fly wheel cover from JetManiac and got it installed.

The only problem was that my flywheel bolt had the oil pump "tangs" on it and would not fit. After grinding off the tangs there were no problems. Just bolted it right on. I haven't run it in the water yet so I don't know if it leaks.

Replaced the aluminum exhaust tube with a new Rad Dudes silicon tube I got from JetManiac... no more interference with the intake manifold... looks sexy too.

Did you ride the ski with the 144 mag pump before installing the new motor to see how much of a difference it made? Or did you do it all at once?

We rode it with the 144 mag set back pump with the 701 first. The mag set back pump was a big improvement compared to the stock pump. When we changed the pump, we also went from a Solas 13/18 prop in the OEM pump to a Hooker 9/15 in the mag pump. Now running a Hooker 11/17 in the mag pump.

Just ordered an EPIX HX3 ignition from Zach at PHP with Zach's preprogrammed curves to replace the MSD enhancer. Stock ignition with a MSD enhancer just doesn't do the PHP 898 motor justice. Can't wait to try it out this weekend
