I dunno, I took em from my work. No idea where we get them. The last few I used didn't do this.

use right-angle with 36grit..
I'm using this to sand the whole tray and flat surfaces. It never did this before. And now the poop won't come off. It's like deturfing all over again. Ughh

So much for laying glass today. It really won't come off. I broke the bond on the left side to the bottom tray of thickened epoxy from rubbing. Bleh. The epoxy hasn't reached its full hardness yet, so I wonder if that's what effed it up

When you mentioned the temperature you cured the panels at my first thought was that there was no way it was cured. Per the US composites website temperatures below 60 degrees double the curing time.

Edit: Acetone might work better for you than lacquer thinner.

It's about 55 degrees in our warehouse probs. Heats not on right now. Glass usually gets pretty stiff after 12 hours, but thickened epoxy takes longer. The thickened epoxy is hard, but if you press very hard with your nail, you can scratch the epoxy. This is my theory : DA with tons of power spinning fast sands through the top of the epoxy, it's a tad softer inside of it, then the sand particles get stuck. It was never glue from the paper. Just sand getting rubbed into the thickened epoxy. It's all good now, razer blade, lacquer thinner ad brake cleaner, hand sanded down, and its all good! The pads are 3m,so they're decent. Glad I figured it out.

The panels have been done for a couple weeks. And the thickened epoxy has had 24 hours. It's no big deal now. Just the rpms out of a DA aren't good if you're epoxy hasn't fully hardened. By hand it works perfectly now. You can't dent the epoxy, it's super hard, but you can scratch it with your nail if that makes sense.
And I've been using lacquer thinner for a long time on prep work. It's what we got around the shop and it hasn't caused me any problems..

I guess I can't relate. When I used US Composites 3 to 1 epoxy there was no way I'd ever be able to scratch it with my finger nail when its hardened after a day at 75 degrees.

Oh yeah understandable. 12 hours at 70 ish and it's pretty much fully cured, at least for me. But 50 degrees and 24 hours it's still not rock solid yet, which is understandable. No biggie, I guess now I know. Lol

Okay so from putting too much pressure on the panels, some of the epoxy cracked. I'm not that surprised, since I didn't let it reach its full strength either. That being said, I didn't want to mix up a batch of us composites resin, so I found some 30 min epoxy that I bought a while ago and completely filled the gaps and filled the cracks. So tomorrow, everything will be safe to sand like crazy, and the it'll be time to glass finally! Gonna work on engine bay tomorrow too maybe.

Epoxy is completely hardened and everything looks good now. The fast set epoxy bonded pretty good too.

It's 70 degrees today, and I guess the ice is pretty much completely off the lakes I ride.. I need this thing done ASAP!

Had no idea you were in Wisconsin! Guess I never looked cuz I'm usually only on this thread when I'm on my phone.
I ride okauchee Lake in oconomowoc/Hartland area. I think it's been open for a while but I haven't wandered out there for a bit. Been crazy busy finishing up senior year..

Okauchee is great, lots of big wakes and enormous boats out there! I hit school section lake almost everyday and get out to Nagawicka on the weekends usually.

You gotta finish the build in time to get some riding in before the dells freeride!
