Not that my opinion makes a dam-but-if u want footholds-but don't wanna butcher yer hull to do it-Blowsion makes Mac Mashers for the SXR that I believe could be trimmed to fit a SJ nicely-I have em on my SXR and love em.

Now everyone will tell u they suck, the mashers that is-I have mod Rickters in my SJ and love them as well-someone else did all the hard work puttin the holds in the SJ b4 I bought it.

The mashers actually mount flush to inside walls of tray w/a little epoxy and screws or rivets-I've mounted 2 sets, one w/screws and one w/rivets.

Your theories are very interesting, I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I like that theory. i am only 5'8" and wear a size 8 shoe. the sj tray is wide enough for me and would prefer to keep my feet where they are. i don't think i would like a wider stance, but have never tried a ski with holds so not sure if i would like the wider stance or not.

the problem with mashers is that there is very little support there to actually hold your feet in place, call it a half assed foothold if you will!!!!!!!!!!! Better than nothing but not great for any flat water inverts.

I am your same height and I wear 8.5-9 size shoes and I love the Ricksters from Wammer. You aren't widening your stance too much and it actually feels so good once you've done it. I used to ride an SXR so I was used to having a wide stance as it was. Then I went to a stock SJ and felt crammed, but now i have the foot holds and I'm standing nice and wide like before on the SXR. I like it, it may not be your cup of tea, but it has made my ski feel incredible.

thanks harrison. that pretty much answers my next question. i definately want to get inverted and i am land locked so all i ride is falt, with the exception of cruiser wakes and those 40 mph wind days.

I tried mashers this weekend. I think I"d fall out of them alot while inverted if they were in my ski. they just don't seem to hold your foot in. they slope to much on the top of your foot upward and in to the tray.

I have searched some :sneaky: and can't seem to find a concensus. What foothold is the most desired to slap on? I don't know which ones are on my square, but I know I don't like em cause they take up waaaay too much room in the tray.

I personally like the Cyclones, as that is what I have on my square nose.

I have put the WF footholds in my RN because they are supposed to be similar to the cyclones with more grab.

I to not like the Rickters at all....

I have a size 12 foot....

(engine pic added) What does this need?

Whats an AM hood?

this is the only full pic I have of the motor right now. Dunno what's been done inside it, but it's got "the head" that nobody can name with ~152 psi/cylinder, r&d intake manifold, tapered mikunis (haven't mic'd them yet) that are tight with no play in the butterflies, B pipe, FP waterbox, 1 500 gph rule bilge, r&d ride plate that seems to have been bent in the middle somehow, and either an R&D or JD grate (I can't recall, but it's an agggressive scoop). I have been told it has a lightened flywheel and a GroupK port job, and also an impeller that I still need to check out. I haven't had it on the water yet, but it runs very nicely on the stand. This motor had to have been gone thru not long ago, because I pulled the plugs to try and get a clue about how it was running....and found a small piece of rtv rubbery/flexible crap stuck up next to the insulator in the plug. The rtv around the cases and head was also a fresh white after I cleaned the motor area.

When I got it this past weekend, I took a half a day to clean it up. I used a gallon of simple green to get the hull back into good shape. I used some polishing compound on it and then waxed it back to a good state. I also flushed, simple greened, flushed, simple greened, flushed, simple greened, flushed the motor compartment out to get all the leaves, acorns, rusted toggle switch for bilge, fat rusty washer, and some of the oil out (you couldn't stick your hand in it without pulling it back out and being greasy/dirty. The factory paint is still in great shape, it just needed some attention in a bad way. The mats were 1/4 peeled off, so I gave them some assistance in making their way fully off.

I am gonna yank the motor and components out of the hull and get everything cleaned back up to a pristine state, install new plug wires, hoses, clamps, probably get the FP powder coated, but at least polish it. It needs some new FAs cause the old ones are starting to deteriorate to where it looks like pieces might start falling into the carb throats. I might also install a primer (currently does not have one), but so far this thing fires immediately with the press of a button! I'll replace the loose steering assembly with a UMI, returf it, possibly throw some footholds in (still debating), and then ride it!

I have Cyclone footholds in my ski and like them. I'd put some footholds in there since the turf is already off. You also need a coupler cover unless you took it out while cleaning.

I think the WD rev footholds look pretty slick, and those who have tried them seem to like them. Not to mention the price is right, I think they are like $99, but I may be wrong.

Nice ski by the way, should look great once you are done with it!

yep..as I stated earlier...

It needs some new FAs cause the old ones are starting to deteriorate to where it looks like pieces might start falling into the carb throats.

I got all the old adhesive out of the tray and off the rails tonight and sanded the area up with some 80 grit. mmmm...pretty:woot:

To foothold or not to foothold... I am leaning towards breaking outthe rotozip.

Oh, I looked back up under it again tonight and it's got a worx grate and the prop is CLEAN with no nicks, however, the outer nozzle is kinda rigged on the bottom bolt...but it should be an easy fix

well i cant find my pics but..... me and my buddy had never turfed before and we had no problem with the FH's.

1- use wire wheel to remove foam until FH fits

2- rivet/epoxy them in

3- glass

4- sand both the tray and the turf

5- pick a good starting point, and begin gluing down turf using plenty of heat and another set of hands to mold the turf around the curves.

6- cut off excess with exacto knife.

7- not sure which thickness of underpadding to use, but definately use it. I made the mistake of not and my feet get bruised.
