I’m finishing up my 3ed semester constrained in a machine classe at WCU and I’m trying to get some ideas of simple parts I could machine at school. “right now I’m building a simple steam engine that runs on compress air(pics tomorrow hopefully” I have nearly every new HAAS machine and machine tool/inserts to my disposal at western. This is about 6 milling machines and 3 lathes and 2 lazar cutters, along with some rapid prototyping and reverse engineering machines. I have the knowledge to write the programs and fully run about 90% of the machines from fixturing to setup to running the machine. A brief view of our facility http://et.wcu.edu/BSET_labs.htm

I would like to make a few parts for fun over xmas break.

My current ideas include: easy to hard

• X-H20 logo, milled into head or something
• Turn plate (any minor improvement to XMW)
• conversion plate
• Hood hooks (making the opening larger, so you cant miss)
• Pole bracket (not sure what to change here)
• Internal fuel cap assembly (everything i’v seen looks like crap)

What do you think, any ideas?
What would you like to see machined? Reasonably, please keep this serious as I’m not writing a program for a cylinder or head. “Unless someone shoots me the program. winking at waterdawg and his 1200cc beast”

I was thinking about a scupper/oneway but i have not personally held one in my hand, so i do not have an idea on how to make it or have the specs.. I do like the idea of matching both sides… any idea on design? I would prefer to keep it to 3axis as the 5axis takes quite some time to set up…. Great idea, keep them flowing

Carb spacers so that stock flame arrestors can clear girdled heads. I know this has been done before so you couldnt really sell it, but it would be good for you or your friends to have.

Make "Kenny Keepers that work on a Blaster and FX1 (same motor mounts). I have been thinking about a design for these. Seeing as I have both these skis I was going to call them "Eddie keepers".

I will take two sets!

how bout a decent looking handlepole bracket that doesnt look like a toilet paper roll holder. i'll take two!
i'll look into it. the only think with solid bracket. i'll be turning nearly half the aluminum into chips. are you looking for something with more curves, edges, or design work on the flats?

I really would like to stick with SJ parts. So i'll be able to the use the part. i currently do not own a set of KK's as i know that they prevent the mount/motor from moving to far "horizontal", not 100% sure how they mount and how much space between mounts. Its' also fairly hard and time communizing to get dimensions of such a curved part.

great ideas:biggthumpup:

I'll tell ya what... I have KK's on my superjet, they work great however, I tail landed very hard this past fall... motor slid backwards into the short shaft... screwed up the bearings in both my intermediate housing and pump.

So, I would like to see someone design a set of rear keepers to keep the motor from slamming into the intermediate housing on hard tail landings. That way you have some movement both ways, but not too much.

Any thoughts about that?

If I send you some OEM Kawi 800 hood hooks could you duplicate those? If so, I could probably buy 6 sets for our skiis.

Good idea I have a bunch of blanks I was going to make some keepers.I will look into that

I know absolutly nothing about machining or how hard things would be (my disclaimer) but what about

-Some type of bilge switch holder for the handlebars or some type of plate for the dash, not sure how much you can improve on any present ideas
-It would probably be too heavy, but what about a pimp looking battery box
-Don't know how large you want to make something but what a aluminum ride plate that already has a D cut shape in it. Seems like most/all of the D cut ride plate that are presently for sale are either composite or full carbon.
