SXR next step..... What mods?

Thanks guys - Great response.

Im thinking a flywheel maybe is next step ! but what effect does is have on the track? Im thinking its good to get out of the tight corners but will it be to aggresive? or just fast as h... in acc on track?

Im thinking D-Cutting my rideplate and using a carbon rideplate i have there is a bit damaged but i can fix that :)

I like the difference the flywheel made when chasing buoys, you can always have the power where you want it. That being said, my buddy is a newer rider and has a stock (engine) SXR, he hates how my boat is either on/off with the throttle response, so it's just a matter of what you like. Give it a try, you can always sell an aftermarket flywheel on here if you don't like it.

Relax everyone...it's just internet words. I know a flywheel doesn't make 'power'. No need to over analyze it. We all know it gives the Kawis amazing snap on the bottom, but also makes em stop just as fast. I feel it is truly the key to getting the hit that SJ riders get with about 100 less ccs than a SXR. I haven't ridden an SXR yet, that hits hard on the bottom, without some kind of flywheel mod.

I am not an engine builder...but have ridden a lot of SXRs with diff setups. My ski personally, drivetrain wise, is stock with wetpipe, flywheel and light hull.

In the end, I still think the flywheel is the next obvious mod for the OP, if he is not going to race. (I think they are illegal in all but open class) #Zero seems to have the best bang for the buck with these....

this is quit important...

is it illegal to race with a mod flywheel?

Here's the link to the Limited class rulebook:

http://www.ijsba.com/pdfs/rulebook/2013/part3.pdf

I don't think any mods to the flywheel are allowed.

7.6 IGNITION AND ELECTRONICS — TWO-STROKE
7.6.1 RPM limiter function may be bypassed or eliminated. CDI unit may be modified or aftermarket. Ignition timing may be
changed. Modifications to the original equipment ignition pickup mount will be allowed. Original equipment charging system
must be used. No other ignition system modifications will be allowed.

You have pipe, head, MSD and the Lady lost +20lbs. As you stated in your first post you have a STOCK IMPELLER. If you don't have a great prop, you can dump all the power in that boat and just spinning the wheels. I know you are a little east of vegas cross the lake so email Dave @ impros with what you have and he can dial in the right impeller for you. Then sit down and drink a Tuborg.
PS aftermarket impeller are legal in any class.

I am not saying it makes no difference, but.................... I am a fan of the stock prop on many (not all) setups. By most accounts, it is a nice prop. Certainly not the first place to spend money.

Later ;)
