and brad, seriously i owe you a bunch of beers.. i never realized just how much of a PITA it was to paint a boat. and you did an AWESOME job on my green one.. i dont think i can match your quality, but im gonna try...

Hey thats what friends are for. Now you see how much work it is. I remember you bringing the hull to my house and thnking it was ready to spray almost  and after all that hard work you still didnt let me go out on a date with Cristina.
Just take your time and call me for some tips and tricks. Like very lightly misting the hull with spray paint on the primer before you wet sand and thin the paint a little more than it recomends and nice light coats (So you dont get runs :banghead: ) for a nice glossy finish. Just take your time.

fyi - they call that a "guide coat".... and don't bother to wetsand... just DA it w/ some 320 dry.... less mess w/ same outcome... got to give the sealer something to stick to...

what is the fancy schmancy gun? Like Slut said (i think) many light coats on the base. but the clear I believe is a diff story. that will be dry and dull if you don't put it on heavy enough. I try to stand where I can see down the job with the light in front of me to catch the glare/ reflection. and this way you can see if you are getting wet enough coverage.

Disclaimer- I am not a professional painter. My friend is though! and I have painted before and will do it again.:Banane01:

just finished up all the bottom paint. got a few runs here and there. you sure are right BK.. dam that is hard!

it was kinda rewarding though to step back and look at it all painted up and shiny.. hopefully it dries well overnight and i'll be wetsanding some runs down tomorrow..

Pics? What color scheme?

The hardest part for me on the pait is getting the amount of coverage right. Too little=orange peel, then you go back and lay more down and think OK I got it, come back a few minutes later, a run.

Thank god clearcoats can be wet sanded and polished.

What colors are you using?? Type of paint?

Good luck, take lots of pics!

Is it the Nason Series? Base Clear or Enamel Singlestage?
It is a commercial based paint, like for dump trucks and such, pretty durable. the Solids are hard to paint with, metallics are easier, flow better...... (Talking about the singelstage paints)

cheap and pretty easy............. I did spray some other kind of Dupont (upper line paint) and it was much easier to paint with.......... but that was a few years ago.
