What Jetmaniac said.

The TBM does something, but the cost difference to the solas mag is negligible, and that works better.

It will increase hookup in the surf.

I went from a TBM with a Hooker Prop to a Skat Mag and the same prop. I noticed a small performance improvement in my flatwater riding. It did make a big difference in whitewater though, so like others said I am sure the hookup is better in the surf.

For my new build I thought about going Solas, however since the TBM was on the shelf I am going with that. Also that is my wife's ski. If her or some friends take in some rocks I don't have to worry about the veins since I have a few replacement pump stators on the shelf also.

I would go with Solas or look for someone selling a TBM and upgrading to a mag. You may be able to score one cheap.

Why would you buy a pump that expensive and not try to tune it? :dunno:
Impeller pitch, setback, cone size, and reduction nozzle size all play into pump tuning.

I am still tuning it. I have gone with XMetals recommendations of using the same prop and nozzle as I was running with the TBM and their motor. I did play with the setback a bit last year. I am trying some more new nozzle and cone combinations out this year as I feel it not completely dialed in.

Keep at it, you won't be disappointed. I had huge gains everywhere when I switched from stock to mag.
