What region am I in? In Kansas? I know of one event that happens at a lake close by once a year - other than that I coudn't tell you where the next race/freestyle comp would be . . .

My reason would be lack of confidence, but that's changing. I'm getting much closer to some tricks that would make me feel like it would be worth it, if it was more common around here.

the main reason is the lask off skills but im working on that this summer and another reason i guess is that we dont really have any comps here in new zealand not that ive heard off anyway :bs2:

Money is a big thing, But WHO wants to sit around all day on the weekend just to go out for a 2 min run, How Gay
If your a racer it's cool to compete, cause you can run more classes then just one,

I do like freestyle type riding (FREERIDE) I just think freestyle comp's are a waste of time,

Your not going to get better sitting on the beach on the weekend waiting for your 2 min run!!!!

Ummm....we pay to compete for those 2 minutes.....but im out riding and haning out wirh my friends the whole weekend...i just dont sit and wait for my run then leave....im riding the whole weekend just like any other weekend

You must keep your head in your azz if you think all we do is sit around waiting all weekend......And if you think it's gay, why would money have anything to do with why you don't compete? :lame:
Or do you make it a habit to participate in things you think are gay when the money is right?

the money thing is about racing not freestyle comp's, if I had the money I would go to more races and race not freestyle, I think freestyle comp's are gay, 2 min If it was in the surf for like 10 min runs with big air that would be cool,
I think for new people coming to this sport it's hard to sell them on a 2 min run, You get more for your money in racing the freestyle comp's.
I love to freeride surf and flat water,
Sorry, If I think freestyle comp rider's are 2 pump chump's
be nice!!

You should come down to R7 and actually see freestyle. Not sure how it is where ever your from but most could care less about racing unless they know somone in the class. Freestyle....well....90% of the site is there to watch.

I'm there to 1. Have a good time 2. Compete......Riding all weekend with my friends....so far so good......then going and doing my run......still good so far....

10mins of surf? How many times would you like to see someone BR and BF in one routine? Even more then the pros do already on flat? lol...lame

That's it, just my opinion I don't think the guy's that do comp's are really gay, there nicer than most racer's,it's just the comp style set up that I think is gay.

not trying to piss anyone off just, just an opinion!

I'm done with this thread don't want people to hate me,

hey, Just Go Ride ;)

It all good.........

I actually prefer to Chase Bouys over Freestyle.......But after sucking in racing at Nationals, I figured I had to come kick some azz in freestyle!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, I am broke after paying off all the judges............. LOL..............

But I hear that some people actually thought I did not earn 3rd Place, that the judging was all messed up.............. Funny thing is, heard the same thing after pro freestyle also, different judges.......... but same result.........

I could've competed in Am freestyle in my region and finished 1st in every round because there was nobody else to compete against. If there were other people competing I would've done it.

Is there even such a thing as freestyle anymore? They should call them Barrel Roll and Backflip contests. I just watched Malones WF run and I counted 6 backflips, 3 barrel rolls and 1 around the world. As impressive as those tricks are, I would have reduced Malone and anyone elses score for not mixing it up. I don't know does the scoring but that is a serious dereliction of duty IMO. If freestyle is down to 2 tricks, then its pretty much dead. Thank God for amatures who can't afford 10mm strokers and carbon hulls.

I had to say money. I am modest when it comes to skills so I can't say that.

Heck, it is tough enough (for my family anyhow) to make it to a freeride and tent camp all weekend eating lunch meat sandwiches and drinking water.

I would have to say all of the above. No skills, time, money etc. Plus I dont like to know that anyone was watching to see how bad I suck.....I just do it for fun....

I said lack of skills. Where I live, I am the only one that has a modded ski, and the only one that freestyles AT ALL, I watch videos and ask questions on how to do stuff, but for the life of me I cant get the ski to do what I want. Harrison's story about the kid on the stock ski is a good story, but at least he can pull a superman, I havnt even tried that.

I cant even figure out how to make a good setup wake, so I am stuck with the very basics, which is alright, I have fun doing it, and I have accepted th fact that I suck sompared to most of you, I have no waves so freeride is COMPLETELY out of the question, and I dont think my wife would like me loading her and the kids up to go and make a fool of myself.

Knowing my luck, if I was to compete at my level right now, some national tv station would be there to film it and everybody in the world would see just how good I make everyone else look.

All in all, I am happy just doing my fountains and subs and stupid little hood tricks.
