Super Jet Steve's first Ski Builld (SN Superjet 701)

Did the finishing touches on the hood liner today. Added two layers of Carbon Fiber to stiffen up the liner. I am also thinking of putting a layer of carbon on the surfjetlouie Nose cap to give the ski a touch of carbon look.. Here are some pics of the hood liner.

I have not posted in a while, but thought I would give an update.. I have primed and prepped the ski for paint.. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.. I will hopefully be shooting the ski this weekend.. Body work has been a pain in the @$$... Not my funnest part of the build...

Ready for paint

Alright, so it does not look like anyone has been looking at my build.. lol.. but here are the pics I said I would load today.. So here it is..

Then the Ski was black

Sprayed the Ski today.. Had a few runs but not bad for my first time ever spraying paint out of a gun.. Plus it is going to get wrapped anyway, so you will not see any of the runs..

Hopefully I will start assembling this coming week.. I need to work on the wrap so that I can lay it on before I turf.

Thanks for all the comments.. Here is a pic of the ski mocked up without the pole. Once I got it home I realized that I did not do as good on the paint as I thought. I have been having second guesses about wrapping the ski, I have been thinking of just putting decals but I am still unsure..

how many layers of fibreglass did you lay down on the sides/ nose area

I layed down 2 layers of the thick, I think it was, Biax 12 mil fiberglass along the whole inside of the ski. It made a huge difference, before when I would hit the side of my fist onside of the hull, it was flimsy. Now when I hit the side it is solid..

Just an update.. I mounted the pump and midshaft today along with pole bracket.. Hopefully going to install and align the motor tomorrow. I will make sure to take some more pics with the motor in so you guys can see what I working with.. I decided to day not to do the wrap on the ski that I had planned.. I decided to just put decals..

sorry I have not been able to take any pics of the ski. I have installed the motor and a water box from an '08 superjet. I am running into issues with the hydroturf hood seal and I read some really bad things about that hood seal, so I ordered a watcon seal. Also when i got the ski the previous owner just put all the old bolts in a box and did not label anything, so I have been having a hard time finding the right bolts and bushings. So it looks like i have to order new bushings for the AC handle pole and for the steering plate..

What did you do in terms of reinforcing the hull? I am like you i am new to the superjet family and i have one two sn superjets one is built complete and set up well for flat water racing the other I am building for freestyle. Also what kind of rivets do you use on your foot holds anything specail there?
