The foam will only add strength and the weight difference is a matter of ounces. And a little advise put the foam in the fridge before you mix it. Temperature will effect how fast it shoots off save yourself the mess the cooler it is the more working time you have

i would not use the expanding foam from depot, it absorbs water.
Wish I'd known that when I did mine! .......Talk about a "gradeschool volcano project"!!!!! lol.
dont mistake him, its still gonna expand like crazy, it just takes longer to heat up and set off. I love when I think its gonna need 16oz and it only really needs 4oz and its expoding out of that hole into the tray and down the side of the ski. I am pretty good about estimating it now and even throw some tape over the hole. pop that friggen side back out man!!!!
really? the stuff I use if you touch it before it sets up its like stepping in hot gum on a sidewalk, you never can get it off the ski or your hands. I just wait til its dry and a quick pop and its off. but I usually tape it all off anyway cause I am just overly cautious.
you using 2 part expanding foam? one is dark like flat coke and the other is like clear/yellow color?
I like to "help" people foam their skis now. so fun to watch the panic as its flowing out faster and faster. lol
im a real d i c k!
2 part marine flotation foam. I get it from a local fiberglass supply house. us composites will have it as was mentioned earlier.
I like 4lb. it is heavier but its very tough and I think 2 lb foam is just not gonna hold up. plus I have seen where the 2lb has shrunk back considerably.
don't take this the wrong way, but...I thought it was funny that you're worried about the weight of adding a bit of foam, when you mentioned that you're going to paint it w/ silver and metal flake.![]()
Paint, especially silver, is HEAVY.
