I just got done glassing in my kicker footholds from blowsion and i was wondering if it was absolutely necessary to re-foam behind the footholds? I noticed that some people on here take all their foam out completely, which i dont plan on doing, but in my case its only a little and i figured it would make the ski a tad lighter.. It is absolutely necessary? I have attached pics of how much foam was dug out.

what footholds are those, they look like something from 89-91. Yes the foam will help support the holds and prevent damage down the line.

Drill a small hole at the top and in the middle in the footholds and use expansion foam, inject it let it dry, cut off the excess and patch the holes. What about turf. colors ???

where would you suggest i get the expansion foam? I got some foam in a can from home depot.. I heard that stuff takes air to cure but my buddy used it and doesnt have any problems; plus i dont really have time to order anything. need to get back on the water ASAP, picked the wrong time to be doing this!

ok thanks! But back to my original question is it ABSOLUTELY necessary to re-foam such a small area? I was thinking it might give a small performance gain when catching air.. maybe?

You're talking about less than half a pound of weight at the risk of breaking the footholds or the glass bond.

Jp what it will do is help keep your holds from cracking moving or getting beat up too bad. It helps make everything much stronger. You wont regret it. The depot expansion foam in the yellow can usually is the stuff.

didnt even think about them breaking.. I glassed those suckers in hardcore, used a whole sheet of fiber and epoxy resin.. I guess ill be foaming tonight, thanks for chiming in guys.

Doing right the first time sure makes a differance. I was the same way on my first ones which gave me great habbits instead of making a mess and doing it twice.

The foam will only add strength and the weight difference is a matter of ounces. And a little advise put the foam in the fridge before you mix it. Temperature will effect how fast it shoots off save yourself the mess the cooler it is the more working time you have
