Super Jet Electrical issue...Need help.

I click the start button and I just get a clicking/buzzing noise coming from my starter relay in the Ebox. Is it toast? Not sure if I have everything hooked up correctly, but when looking at the Ebox the top two thick RED wires, the left one goes to battery (+) and the right red wire to the top of the starter correct? Any other wires I should know about? Battery is fully charged.

Also I cut the head temp sensor wires inside the ebox and going to heat shrink the ends and already epoxied the two small holes on the grommet so water doesnt get in, does this sound ok?

the reds are hooked up correctly...take a neg jumper cable from battery to a head bolt to eliminate a bad black ground wire (which will make the relay buzz like that)....clean both battery connections real good too. I always run a second redundant ground wire from battery and then bolted to the intake...the stock ground wire sitting low in the hull attached to the starter gets corroded easy...

Did this issue appear after having the e-box apart?
If so, check ALL the grounds and the ground screw inside the e-box. Do this first.

While you have it apart, you can carefully jump the two posts on the relay to see if it cranks. This will help verify if you have a cable problem (big red or black cables).

Redundant grounds like JOI suggests is a great idea.

No it was doing this before, im a newb when it comes to elect...where are these ground wires and screw at that you speak of? Also how do I jump the two posts on the relay? I should add grounds from ( - ) to my motor? Right now all I have is the one thick black wire going to the back of the starter, thats considered a ground right?

The ground wires (blacks) all join together at one screw junction in the e-box. I also put a redundant ground wire from that point to my motor (came out the heat sensor wire thru fitting), so I wouldn't ever lose the ground.

The ground wires and screw are inside your e-box.

You can jump the relay with a pair of pliers or something similar.

Yep, you can run a ground from most anywhere on the engine to the battery. The one on the back of your starter is a ground.

Got it, good idea, what gauge wire should I use? 10 or 12 be good? Then ill just drill a hole through my grommet to run wire to motor.

Thanks, so just grab some needle nose pliers and touch both sides? Is it going to shock me? Also when I do this if it does crank does that mean my relay is bad?

I did the plier trick jumping my relay and I could hear my starter turning quietly, but not engaging the bendix...so im guessing my relay is toast since it wont engage? OR is the relay good since it was sparking with the pliers and turned the starter? The relay is suppose to engage the starter right?

Cnn someone please let me know what this means before I go blow $80 on a new relay =(

the relay connects the positive wire circuit to the starter...if you have water or even moisture in the front cover area the bendix can stick and then you would just hear a hum of the starter motor running without bendix engagement...insufficient amps/voltage/connection can make the relay buzz...what is your battery condition/voltage ?

Im not sure dont have access to a meter right now, can I try jumping it with my truck or is that a bad idea? What should the voltage be? I can take it down to the auto parts store and see if its good.

I have jumped started skis several times in the past without a problem but with non heavy duty cables so the amps were reduced some...take battery up to auto parts store for free testing if close by...you said your starter was turning quietly....

Ok battery had a dead cell only drawing 10amps, so hopefully new battery will have her running tomorrow. Thanks for all the help im learning alot!

yeah.anytime you get a buzzing noise coming from the relay, you need to get a volt checker out and see where the voltage drop is.it wont be anything else if its buzzing.just gotta find out if its a bad wire, loose connection or in your case just a bad source.
