to turf a chinpad

Have a 99 SJ. If i want to turf the chin pad, is there other things i should also consider? Do i remove the padding? the stock cover? trim the plastic?. Would greatly appreciate suggestions and PHOTOS to figure out what i like best. Thanks again

Also, what is a good way to strengthen that damn piece of plastic that is supposed to hold the front of the pad down. Mine is a little jicked up. Having to use a giant zip-tie to hold the front down right now. Help

Strip cover and pad from plastic.
Trim plastic to desired length and heigth.
cover with HT pad
then cover with turf.
use the HT glue just like doing you regular pads. Can be done pretty quick and looks great. If your running a stock pole, a couple screws through the front will keep it attached.

it was just turf on bare plastic....

Actually the turfed pad in that pic has the underpadding and turf on top. It's been a while since you saw it, it's been on my ski now for a while. I think it does help fill in the contours of the plastic shell and make it look smooth.

Do i need to wrap the turf at the edges of the plastic or cut it flush and sand/glue it real good to prevent peeling?
