A Lamey cylinder isn't some magical unicorn - it just has a bit more port area (and maybe powervalves). A good port job on a stock cylinder will also increase port area.

IMHO it would be a terrible waste to use a nice aftermarket cylinder without porting.

A good ported 61x is nice...Jetmaniac has a great package that hits nice..

But a BB billet cylinder is the way to go, and the more stroke the better..

IMO

Any A/M cylinder has alot more port area, more than your gonna get from a ported stocker, theres no comparison in flow if its done right and port matched to good flowing cases.Ive rode old school lameys, able,r&d stock strokes that rocked some BB stroker stockers.

i dont believe its been ported i have to check with the owner to make sure.but yeah.i dont know why i wouldnt port it.

what do you mean by a "stroker stocker"?

stroked stock cylinder? The lameys have 7 ports with a thicker casting so boost and transfer ports can be bigger. Those sleaves are basically "ported" out of the box. I have the port mapssomewhere. Is your setup for flat tops?. And btw. The powervalves make a huge difference in throttle responce

You can get just as much bottom end hit out of a non powervalve cylinder as you can a PV one. What the PVs allow is the ability to raise the ports as the throttle range opens up, therefore giving better upper mid and top.

For the original question - Lameys are a better design, no doubt. But, throttle response has a lot more to do with intake set up and WHO did the tuning. You can have the greatest parts in the world and if the person setting it up doesn't know what he or she is doing, it is going to run like crap.

There are plenty of BB/strokers out there that run no better than a good ported stock cylinder. There is a lot more to consider than size and looks.

There is plenty out there that run no where as good as a stocker.
Some of the stuff I have seen is crazy. Not all porting is the same and not all tuning is the same
you get what you pay for

The original question is which hits harder ? Having more port mean area does improve horsepower but the question is not which makes more horsepower. If the lamey is set up more for racing even with out porting a stock 61X ported correctly will hit harder. The lameys were machined at the base and deck depending on what you wanted when you ordered it. It is likely that the port specs are set up for power in the higher rpms. A 61 X correctly ported and matched with the correct package will out perform a lamey that is set up for racing and is not set up correctly because the likelihood is it will have a narrower powerband.
If you compare a stroker 61X it should have a much wider powerband than a stock stroke lamey. Saying that a stroker 61 X big bore runs no better than a stock cylinder shows that someone did something wrong.
