Crank rebuilding questions

I have a crank that the front bearings for the rod let go, all other bearings spin freely.
Is it possible to get just that part repaired? If so, is it something I can do without a press?
If I can't do it but it can be repaired, how much would I be looking at?

Should I bother?

You need at least a 40-ton press to press it apart. Then you have to true it. Better off buying a new crank with the work involved, and by the time you spend the money on getting one rebuilt hten you could buy a new one. I can get you a Hot Rods crank for a decent price. PM me if your interested.

Most Yam/Kaw cranks have the crankpin (for the rod) as part of the crankweb (flywheel) and must use aftermarket webs (Hot Rod has them) and that would require a complete tear down of the center assembly of the crank.
Hot Rod replacement cranks are reasonable and or you can have TDR in south Fl rebuild it also and they do great job! Out of over 200 I have had them do...only 1 seadoo had a problem (center gear moved/ chewed up the rotary gear). So basically no you can't do it easily or cheaply in most cases when dealing with a rod big end failure.

Sad but true....TDR is going to stop rebuilding cranks in the next month or so,they are moving their biss over to the west coast of Fla & are not going to be rebuilding cranks anymore. That sucks because they are the only one I used in 6 years & never had a problem with their work.:frown:

Ok, thanks guys.
Looks like I will be looking for a used crank to use instead of repairing this one. Anybody got one laying around I can get somewhat cheaply?

that does suck. hes getting into laser guides for guns now.

the name of the company will still be TDR though.

its something like tactical defense research.

itll suck not having them around anymore.

I heard that they were going to stop with the cranks, as well, from a friend of mine who's a watercraft mechanic up here. This was a couple of months ago...
