I don't get how these are working man...I slotted them out enough to get the couplers to line up perfectly...but then my bed plates overlap the motor mount holes on one side! And I really don't feel like slotting my bed plate holes!
It is a aftermarket hull (WDK Envy) but OEM mounts and Wamiltons (bad ass!) mounts line right up.
I never had this issue on my Matrix because the hull was slightly lower than oem so I didn't have to slot them as far. If you can't get the right alignment with slotting alone, you may have to machine some material off the bottom and lower them that way.
I just don't get it. If a ski uses OEM Yamaha mounts...and people are slotting these and using them...then how could not work in all skis that use OEM mounts? It is messing with my mind man.
I just ordered another set Wamiltons....they were great and held up to a lot of beatings (I am wondering if they are monkey grips but I have no idea)
But now I am stuck with these cuz I doubt Chris is going to want them back. Complete waste of time and money and I don't even understand why. LOL.
You're over thinking it Matt. Sit back, crack a cold one and the answer will come to you. I have done a couple sets now with no major changes required although the first set I made were not easy to look at.
There is a good chance that you are going to have issues with the OEM mounts as well. Sounds like the engine mounts were glassed in a little higher than normal.
No I have 3 seasons on this hull and have used OEM Yamaha superjet mounts and then a set of Wamiltons (his good ones on his site... not the crappy ones he is selling on ebay....he is discontinuing those) and they all bolt right in and line up perfectly.
That is why I don't get it. If others that have superjets or superjet geometry are making these work then what gives?
Looking back I should have machined the bases and left the holes alone. I think that would have worked .....but I had no idea and it would be guess work and running back and forth to smurfs machine shop or going and buying a belt sander for my garage.
