Wow with a friend like you. . . I figured it out by the way. . . kind of at least. I found a youtube video made by and 8 year old that walked me through it. He/she lost me a few times and I had to rewind but in the end his/her competency was able to overcome my ineptitude.
don't feel bad Snackdude, I tried for an hour tonight to get my new DVD recorder to work and finally gave up and got a beer.
:beerchug: At least now as I head off to bed, I can rest assured that some idiots who do their own home porting ......................probably need to lay off the crack pipe, I'm out.i got a beer but then I realized that things did not too good with me sitting in front of my computer in my boxers drinking a beer watching an 8 year old on my computer. . . so i closed the shades and got the whiskey. . .
OK: I'll give you a hand.
Use this program to download the FLV files from You tube:
http://www.orbitdownloader.com/
The "Grab" tool in the program identifies valid FLV files (flash video player) that are on You tube and will "rip" them to your hard drive.
You can then view the files by downloading an FLV player:
http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=95201
That's it!
Or, if you want to convert the FLV files to AVI's or WMV's, you can pay for this program- it's excellent:
http://www.smallvideosoft.com/
(look for the Freez FLV to AVI/MPEG/WMV Converter download in the lower right of the page) You can use it for free for a while, but then it locks up and you have to pay for it.
