Well i just built my motor for the first time. Now with spring right around the corner I wanted to get the ski started to make sure everything is ready to go. Well this is my problem..
I hooked everything up and went to start the ski.
-First try it sparked at the pos terminal of the battery
-Second try it clicked by the starter. Very soft click
-Third time did the same as the second.
-From then on nothing.. not even a click.
-Contacted my buddy that has a SN and we started going through options. There is 12v going from the battery to the relay.
-There is 12v on the red wire to the switch. I tried jumping the red switch wire with the tan wire and nothing.
-Checked the grounds are they are good.
-Opened my ebox and jumped the pos battery wire with the starter wire and nothing..
-Negative wire that goes to the stator is grounded.
-I have the negative wire from the battery going to a bolt in the exhaust manifold that does ground the motor. (Touched the head with neg wire and pos to the battery with volt meter and it read)
I have searched around on the forum before I post to try to find something but I didn't get anything and my buddy is stuck also so I figured I would reach out to you all because there is a extensive range of knowledge on this site. I have a 92 SN with a 701 motor in it.
I did swap out the stator because the one I had broke where the screw bolts it to the case. Not sure if this would matter. I connected all the wires with the same colors so it should be connected correctly.
Any ideas??? I am trying to get this figured out before Saturday being that it is going to be in the 60s which is a first for this season here in MI.
Thanks everyone!
