yamaha superjet leak

I have a 1994 yamaha superjet 701 and i believe its leaking water from the bracket around the exaust in into the foam. its slowly dripping in my garage and the ski leans to the right side in the water. if anyone has some suggestions let me know please.

just waterlogged like most of them.
only cure is to cut it open,remove all wet foam,refoam,reseal every entry point,instal drain plugs and hope for the best.
just installing drain plugs might help bit but foam will never dry out or at least not in your lifetime.

It's pretty common. There are numerous threads with tons of advise on how to open up the ski, remove all the wet foam, seal up all the various places water can get in and then re-glass everything back up.

The thug lean is common too and has more to do with the weight of the pipe vs battery than wet foam. Even brand new skis have the lean.

Edit: I pulled 32lbs of wet foam from my 92 Superjet and replaced it with 4lbs of dry 2 part foam.

so is it normal for the water to leak out of the bracket around the exaust because i thought thats how it was getting in. where is a good site or video to learn how to get the foam out and seal where its getting in because ive never worked on these before.

I have a SJ and it leaks a bit in the tray but just fitting a drain plug/versa plug combo. Ski always leans right in the water on mine as the exhaust tube fills up.

Do you have any good threads to show how to install the drain plugs

depending on what drain plugs you go with its as easy as drilling a center hole, pulling some foam out to make some room for the plug and screw it in. super easy

Ok cool. Where are the best places to buy the plugs or can I put like any kind of boat plug in it? And should I do two plugs for both sides?

You can find the OEM yamaha style plugs in the marine section of Walmart. The dimensions aren't identical but the function is.

ideally you'd need 1 plug on each side of pump.

You can check out the SN build in my thread. I removed and replaced the foam as well as installed drain plugs. It is well worth digging the wet foam out and putting in new dry foam. Like OCD I also dug out 30lbs and now the back end of my SJ floats above the water line.

Just heard water sloshing in my tray today while loading on the hitch hauler.

I started this season with a dry tray. Big flat surf landings will make an opening somewhere into the tray and soak your foam.

I gave up on refoaming after doing two or three of them and still having them leak anyway. Now I just drill a hole and let it drain. As you can see in the pic.

shouldn't be that hard to seal up the leaks. hook up the air compressor to one of your drain holes and spray down the tray around around the pump area with soapy water and 5200 any leaks..
