Most likely they had different length tail cones for tuning.

all the old factory pipes had 2 piece chambers. I had one just like this on my first X2 in 1990. this one aint nothing special but priced just about right for what it is. they didn't make different length tail cones for tuning, that's what factory boasted the head pipe screws were for.
