yamaha- fuel supply

i have a suspected fuel problem with my ski, on the fuel line there has been an inline filter fitted.

when the engine is running, there is what appears to be no fuel sitting in the filter, but when you stop the engine the filter fills back up again.

also when running at idle on a trolley there is no fuel running back into the tank via the fuel return hose.

i dont know a lot about it, but this suggests to me that perhaps the fuel pump isnt pumping enough fuel??

today when riding i had an issue with the ski cutting out whenever you give the throttle a bit of a stab.

any ideas?

You are on the right track - however, sometimes, when you really have bad luck - the lack of "pumping pressure" is due to the fact that there is no compression...

Check the fuel lines, route them as simplay as possible, chcek diagphram in carb

well ive had the carb apart, all looks well in there, everything clean, all diaprams in good nick, plenty of pulse on the pulse line, no fuel lines blocked, thinking lack of fuel may not be my problem....

Fuel SHOULD be running out and back to the tank from the return line.
Pull off carb, pull off the fuel pump all the way to the carb body, there is a very small return fuel bleed hole at the top right where the return fitting is, check to see if it's clogged!
This hole is only .020 (.5mm) so pretty small and very often overlooked!
Shoot carb clean through the fitting on the hose side.
Be careful not to squirt yourself in the eye!!
