Yam SJ Intermediate Shaft Question

So,
I tailed in + hit bottom really hard in sebby bout two weeks ago. My intermediate shaft ended up about 1" further back than it should have been. I had to press the shaft to get it back into position. Now I can slide the shaft about half an inch back by hand, no press needed. The shaft appears to be good. No visiable sign of wear. Although, I have not mic'd it yet.

Am I wrong or is the shaft supposed to be pressfit into the bearing??

It's supposed to be a press-fit, AFAIK.

I am gonna need to measure the shaft but the numbers do not appear to be in the manual :banghead:

Anyone have the Min-Max measurement for the bearing interference diameter of the int. shaft???

beat it in til it stops, from there you have

+/- .0001uM of clearance

If I beat it in till it stops I will be in the same place I started....with 1" of clearance between the couplers.

Now go back to what you are good at. Juggling balls. :biggrin:
