Xscream Trim Install Issues

Hey guys,

Swapping my Thrust EZ pull trim out for Xscream with the coupler mod and having some issues on install. My turn nozzle resting position is about -5 degree, which isn't a huge deal I guess as ill plane out better chasing boats.

But, it is going to be putting a lot of tension/stress on the trim cable as all my thrust while riding and not actually using the trim is 100% on that cable till trim ring bottoms out at -5, which is about 5 degrees of tilt from where cable bottoms out and where trim ring bottoms out.

Feels like the cable i got is like 1/2" short on throw or I am missing a part to make the trim ring bottom out at 0 degree tilt when not pulling it. As far as i can tell i'm out of adjustment on top and bottom. Any ideas or seen this before? Riding tomorrow and don't want to snap a $100 trim cable my first day.

^This is with Trim ring resting against reduction nozzle, that's how short cable is, and i'm pretty much out of adjustment

^Have not installed spring yet

^Not sure I installed the steering cable connector that came with the kit correctly, seems a little hooky...

^This is how much drop I have on nozzle resting against reduction nozzle.

^Another pic of the steering cable, already crushed one of the spacers a bit. But seems to function fine and clears when pulling trim, if I mount it underneath it hits before i can get full pull on trim lever.

Good point, just used to the thrust system so the lack of a stop worried me.

My buddies with those trims on 155's have a rib on bottom as a stop on the reduction nozzel. Not sure if it's what's left after grinding the reduction nozzel ribs for trim ring clearance or if it's welded on by xcream. Either way there's stops like your thrust did.

Ken is correct, I’ve setup xscream trim in an oem untouched 5* nozzle and when your grinding the ribs off the nozzle for clearance I left a little stub of it on the bottom for a stop to keep the 5* static. If you look at Wayne’s trim I sent him xscream glorified the same concept with a series of overlapping welds to build up a decent stop. You’ll love the xscream trim. Once you get it dialed you’ll never look back.... ever

Thanks Zack! We have been going back and forth figuring out differences between ours, thinking im just gonna grab a 62t nozzle outta the spare parts bin and bore and grind it down (except for the nub like you mentioned) and should be good to go. Gonna go ride as is tomorrow, heres hoping i dont snap a $100 cable haha.

I rode his ski once with the trim you sold him and ordered mine a few days later, big difference over the thrust system.

Btw, you need to add some "slack" or space, on the bolt to the steering cable, if its fixed, it have a tendency to pull the steeringnozzzle to one side, when you pull the trim.

Awesome input guys, thanks very much. Gonna go buy hardware to do your stop mod and steering cable Christian, and i think i still have my short turn nozzle, someone told me the longer nozzle was better for throw, apparently he was mistaken!
