who has done this? I'm planning on doing this with my ski soon and want to know what other people have run into while attempting it. Did you use the xmetal bracket or make your own? How does it sit in the hood? or did you have to modify the hood to make it look better. any insight is appreciated.

it should just be like doing a square to round pole conversion. you'll either need to fabricate a bracket or drill new holes for his.

Sergio from XFT is making me a custom bracket to mount a XFT pole on my squarenose. Since it is CNC I am sure he can whip out others if there is interest. I can post pic whenever mine gets here. The price is close to what an X-metal pole, carbon pad and bracket would cost.

I did an fx1 pole on a square with a round nose braket and its a little high in the front but it doesn't look out of place. With A lowered braket you should be perfect. If anything the hood will need to be chopped down to look right because the top of the round nose pole sits lower then top of the hood and the xmetal pole is alot slimmer. My pole setup maxes out at about waist high and you can really see the the nose flex ALOT when you max it out. You have to move the hood hooks out. Keep the ones on the hood the same distance from the bottom of the hood just move them out as far as they will go and still clear the hull. You might have to grind a lil on the inside of the hull to get the washers to sit flush. Seat the hood on the hood seal and don't latch the hood. Sit the hull side hood hooks on the hood side hood hooks. Where the hole closest to the nose on the hull side hooks is is where you need to drill the front hole for the hull hooks. My hood seats and seals perfect but its a little tricky to get the hooks under the nose piece with the pole being maxed out at about waist high. I doubt you'll have the problems with the xmetal pole hitting the stop and maxing out, I doubt it has a stop. home this helped

already done!!!!!! Pats RN bracket works awesome, the pole just cant extend up as far as it should. Had to cut a hole in the bracket too so the bracket would sit flush due to the dimple on the mounting area. Some 5200 to fill in old holes, drill some new ones, move some hood hooks and its on. Tight as hell too and I love it.

The pole stop is an issue, but it extends to over head high. I could cut the stops, but I think it extends far enough.
